MSNBC's Jen Psaki struggled to gain traction on Wednesday night, just her second show in a new primetime slot. Psaki recently took over the network's high-profile 9 p.m. ET timeslot from Tuesday through Friday, following the return of The Rachel Maddow Show to its once-a-week Monday schedule. Maddow had resumed a five-night format temporarily during President Donald Trump's first 100 days back in office. A former Biden administration press secretary, Psaki previously hosted Inside on Sundays and Mondays. She now anchors "The Briefing" in the network's key primetime slot, but by any measure, she's tanking. On Tuesday, Jen Psaki's The Briefing premiered with 1.2 million viewers, including 139,000 in the key advertising demographic of adults aged 25-54. A search was underway Monday after a suspected smuggling boat capsized off Del Mar, killing three people. Early reports indicated nine people were missing and four survivors were located, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said. The overturned boat was discovered just north of Torrey Pines State Beach around 6:30 a.m. A survivor who was interviewed told first responders that nine people were missing, including one or two children, Coast Guard spokesperson Hunter Schnabel said. Personnel from several agencies were involved in the search, including Coast Guard and San Diego Fire-Rescue helicopters, a 45-foot Coast Guard response boat, and lifeguards in rescue boats and personal watercraft.
