Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, May 09, 2025

MSNBC's Jen Psaki struggled to gain traction on Wednesday night, just her second show in a new primetime slot. Psaki recently took over the network's high-profile 9 p.m. ET timeslot from Tuesday through Friday, following the return of The Rachel Maddow Show to its once-a-week Monday schedule. Maddow had resumed a five-night format temporarily during President Donald Trump's first 100 days back in office. A former Biden administration press secretary, Psaki previously hosted Inside on Sundays and Mondays. She now anchors "The Briefing" in the network's key primetime slot, but by any measure, she's tanking. On Tuesday, Jen Psaki's The Briefing premiered with 1.2 million viewers, including 139,000 in the key advertising demographic of adults aged 25-54. However, by Wednesday, viewership had dropped sharply, falling to just over one million total viewers and only 65,000 in the coveted demo, Fox News reported.

"MSNBC's newest program shed a staggering 53% of its demo viewers compared to the first episode only one day prior. Psaki's program also lost a whopping 67% of viewers between the ages of 18-49 after only one episode, as "The Briefing" averaged 113,000 on Tuesday and only 37,000 on Wednesday," Fox said.

I watched a couple days of it. It was not all that good, I did a lot of fast-forwarding through segments.

Maybe many of those who tuned in for the first show were expecting Rachel Maddow's show to continue each weeknight?

And when they saw the schedule change, they punted?

However, that aside.

As I said earlier, I was not impressed by Ms Psaki's new show. Her guests were too political, with no one questioning her opinions. She seemed to be more lecturing me on what I should think instead of informing me and allowing me to decide. Her approach reminded me of the similar approach of FoxNews, which is why I opted to fast forward so much.

... and, if I may add ...

Going from 1.2 million viewers to just over one million viewers is not a 53% decrease.

More Republican math?

The drop refers to the key demo of adults 25-54. No one cares about the numbers from the TV being left on at the nursing home.

As I said before, once RFK bans drug companies from advertising prescription drugs on TV, the total collapse of the liberal news programs will be complete. They will either need huge Democrat donor subsidies to stay on air or be forced to make their broadcasts unbiased to attract a larger audience.

The why use other numbers for the headline? Intentional misinformation?

If your current alias thins that news programs are the main advertising area of drug companies, I'd proffer that your current alias may need to take another loo. Maybe spend some time on the cable channels that are targeted based upon the desired audience?

Emphasis on "targeted" here. The drug companies look for the audience that their drugs are appropriate for. Otherwise, they'd be wasting their advertising dollars.

Conservative news programs have already abandoned TV broadcast as the means to reaching an audience. Conservatives are about long form content like podcasts. That doesn't work for liberals because they are uninformed and have short attention spans - same reason why AirAmerica was a total failure. Liberals need constant sound bites pumped into them - but their traditional broadcasts like MSNBC, CNN, and the Daily Show have collapsing viewership. The few advertisers they still get are mainly prescription drug companies selling erectile dysfunction and obesity pills - something most liberals suffer from.

As an example - Tim Pool, Joe Rogan, Steven Crowder, or Tucker Carlson simply destroy any liberal broadcast in key demo viewership. Do you honestly think Rachel Maddow could get another media company to match her MSNBC deal? Of course not - because the market for liberal propaganda is too small and shrinking. With USAID money already gone, the next shoe is about to drop.

Fox News has been "abandoned"?

Is lying all you got?

Considering your first sentence is a lie, the rest of what you wrote is pointless to read.
