Why aren't these protesters patrolling the parking lots, and engaging ICE themselves when this happens rather than standing in line buying and returning putty knifes in a futile gesture instead? I clicked on this to read the discussion, the discussion is nothing but deflections. Much like your 44 is just another form of deflection. I don't have a NYT subscription so I was hoping for actual discussion to get more informed on the issue. From what I've read from other news sources, it's a staggering amount of money and seemingly pretty systemic... which is why I'd like to learn more. Usually, and more so in the distant past, this site was good place to get links to the major news stories of the day with a good spread of differing and insightful viewpoints and made for a great way to get varied view on an issue. I was hoping for that by clicking on this story... should have known better.

The fact that the left here considers not using newspeak as talking down says everything about why the left is so far out of touch with the majority right now. Twisting the language to not state blatant facts isn't some elevated way of speaking, it's just disingenuous and it comes across as that to most people.
