A bill proposed in the State House would legalize over-the-counter sales of Ivermectin in Pennsylvania. The bill, proposed by State Rep. Jacob Banta (R-4), proposes making the anti-parasitic drug legal over the counter in Pennsylvania. Rep. Banta said in the bill's memo that Ivermectin is "a very safe drug that has been used by millions of people worldwide." He cited the drug winning a Nobel Prize for treating parasitic diseases in 2015 and a 2021 NIH study that explored Ivermectin's therapeutic and preventative role in SARS-CoV-2, in which 76 controls and 41 cases were studied as reasons to legalize the drug.

Affordable Housing vs Low Income Housing
www.apartmentlist.com
... If you're struggling to afford rent, you're not alone. Research shows that 49% of Americans say the availability of affordable housing in their local community is a significant problem.
Relief could be within reach! Some programs, including low-income and affordable housing, could help you pay your rent without feeling financially burdened. Here's what to know about low income vs. affordable housing, the differences, and how to apply.
What Is Low-Income Housing?
Low-income housing helps renters who cannot keep up with rising rents and marketing changes. A household is considered low income if it makes below 80% of the median income in the local area.
Public housing and its related programs aren't new. The first public housing was created in Atlanta, GA, in 1935 as part of the New Deal initiated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Initially, public housing was segregated by race. However, a year after the Supreme Court invalidated "separate but equal" public education, the Eisenhower administration legally ended public housing segregation.
What Is Affordable Housing?
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines affordable housing or apartments as one a household can obtain for 30% or less of its income. The team at Apartment List also recommends using the 30% rule or spending no more than 30% of your take-home pay on rent to live comfortably.
Of course, this figure also varies from city to city. For example, many people in San Francisco and New York City spend more than 30% of their income on housing....

A look at the state of affordable housing in the U.S. (October 2024)
www.pewresearch.org
... Housing affordability has emerged as a key issue in this year's U.S. presidential election. Both Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump have talked about what they would do to increase the supply of affordable homes and people's ability to buy them, though their plans have little in common.
It's an important issue for the public, too: In a recent Pew Research Center survey, 69% of Americans said they were "very concerned" about the cost of housing, up from 61% in April 2023. ...
What makes a home affordable?
One commonly used (though also criticized) benchmark for housing affordability is that no more than 30% of household income should go toward housing costs. Households that spend more than that are considered "cost burdened" by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. ...

2022 annexation referendums in Russian-occupied Ukraine
en.wikipedia.org
... In late September 2022, in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian-installed officials in Ukraine staged so-called referendums on the annexation of occupied territories of Ukraine by Russia.[1][2][3][4]
They were widely described as sham referendums by commentators and denounced by various countries. The validity of the results of the referendums has only been accepted by North Korea. ...
The votes were conducted in four areas of Ukraine " the Russian-occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, and the Russian-appointed military administrations of Kherson Oblast and Zaporizhzhia Oblast, captured and occupied in the first week of the 2022 invasion[5][6] -- as well as in Russia.[1]
At the time of the referendums, Russia did not fully control any of the four regions, where military hostilities were ongoing. Much of the population had fled since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[7] The referendums were illegal under international law and have been condemned by the United Nations as violations of the United Nations Charter.[8][9] ...
Under the conditions of Russian military occupation and complete dominance of Russian media, the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine were promised the inclusion of these regions into Russia, as with Crimea. As the director of the Donetsk Institute for Social Research and Political Analysis suggested in 2014, it had been decided to refuse accession referendums due to low support for joining Russia: 35% supported it, while 65% saw themselves as part of Ukraine.[11]
In Russia, a 2015 poll by the Levada Center showed that 19% of polled Russians wanted eastern Ukraine to become part of Russia.[12] In March 2021, 25% of polled Russians supported the annexation of the Donbas separatist republics to Russia.[13] ...

Russia continues to strike Ukraine after Trump questions Putin's commitment to peace
www.theguardian.com
... Russia has continued its assault on Ukraine with a series of drone attacks and airstrikes, hours after Donald Trump cast doubt on Vladimir Putin's readiness to end the conflict.
Three people were killed and four wounded on Sunday morning in airstrikes on Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, according to the regional prosecutor's office. In a drone attack on the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipro region, a person was killed and a 14-year-old girl wounded after a third consecutive night of assaults, the local governor, Serhiy Lysak, said.
The US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, described the coming week as "very critical" for US attempts to end the war, telling the American broadcaster NBC that the administration would need to "make a determination about whether this is an endeavour that we want to continue to be involved in".
He was speaking after what was described in diplomatic circles as a potentially historic meeting between Ukraine's leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the US president, albeit only a 15-minute conversation, on the sidelines of the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday. ...
