- Mamdani's opposition, on the other hand, isn't about personal ethics or corruption. It's ideological. He's pushing for a level of socialism (e.g., rent freezes, city-run groceries, and free public transit, etc.) that's never really been implemented at this scale in the U.S. The fear isn't that he'll fail; it's that he might actually succeed and prove those ideas popular.
As long as it gets funded there is no failure. That's the issue. The money has to come from somewhere and NYC is a pricey place to begin with. What that means is he's going to have to take money from people who would never take advantage of these perks, and give it to people who can't otherwise afford it.
"rent freezes" Not sure how this one will work. Will the city subsidize the landlord, or will they just stick them with a loss? Because if it actually is what I think it is, this is going to be a disaster.
"What if his ideas work?"
That's why you're dead-set against letting him try.
If you were an honest person, you'd acknowledge there's more than a glimmer of truth in that.

I don't know what world you woke up in this morning but I'm not keeping him from anything. I can't even vote against him.
