Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Despite his reputation of making deals, U.S. President Donald Trump has not discussed efforts to broker a deal to end the political gridlock that has shutdown America's government. The Atlantic writes about the number conflicts and government duties Trump has attended to in October.

"When it comes to the government shutdown, Trump barely seems to be paying attention," Toluse Olorunnipa, Jonathan Lemire, and Russell Berman write. "Some of Trump's closest advisers told us that the president has been distracted and busy dealing with other matters."[image or embed]

I don't think that Donald Trump wants the House to come back. Period.

I think that he sees this as an opportunity to cement one-man rule.

"America's dealmaker"?

What a joke.

He didn't:

Fix healthcare
End the Ukraine war
End the Gaza war
Make Mexico pay for the wall
Bring manufacturing back to the US
Lower grocery prices
Lower prescription drugs
Lower housing costs
Lower utility costs
Pass an infrastructure bill

It's almost like he is nothing but full of shitake.

Why should we be in a hurry to open the government again?

Just so Trumpy can continue to undermine it and destroy it?

What's the hurry? Maybe we should just keep it shut until Trumpy gets bored and wanders off.

Let's be honest.

This is what Trump wanted.

Him in total control.

Quasi dictator status.

If Johnson were to reopen the house, which he seems quite content not to, he'd have to swear in Adelita Grijalva.

Which would provide enough votes to start to process to release the Epstein files.

Which Trump and Republicans are fighting as hard as they can to bury.

Better question is, why don't you want them released now?

Is it because Trump's in them and you have a vested interest in protecting him?

In protecting pedophiles?

Prolly in there, but prolly not Epstein's 'best friend' and Wingman to the Pedo King.

Who sent Jeffrey a B-day card all about the 'Secret' they shared.

And also send Epstein's pimp Maxwell to the Club Fed.

Well I guess that means you win.

So let's not release the Epstein files and let's make sure none of those pedophiles are ever convicted.

If Trump was a Democrat MAGAts would bray to high heaven for the release of files they'd claim they already knew (because "alternative facts," doh) proved Trump joined in---------- and blood sacrifice topped off by sexualized cannibalism (don't ask) sessions with Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, Pablo Escobar, Josef Mengele, Salvador Dali, Perry Como, and Paul McCartney (yes, of course he's dead). There's a reason the East Wing had to be torn down, y'know. And Boaz would be jerky dancing in that pack.

PS: Your question has been repeatedly answered on the DR. Please stop with the stoopid.

Not releasing the Epstein Files is the definition, the essence, of corruption.

Releasing them is going to hurt a lot of people, and some I'm sure are Democrats.

But such a release will also paint Trump with a tar that will last several hundred years.

I'm looking forward to that.

I guess we'll never know since Biden didn't release them.

The truth is, democrats are fine with locking up Bill Clinton for pedophilia.

It's republicans who are doing their best to ignore the Epstein files.

I think Trump and Republicans are in agreement on this point. There's no urgency on Republicans in Congress to, well, govern. These are the same Republicans who went on recess so they could do Damage Control and strong-arm the Republicans who were defying Trump by demanding the release of the Epstein Files.

Republicans know they will lose a good chunk of their supporters when the truth about Trump raping girls comes out.

If there was anything there, Biden and his democrat handlers would have put it forth to stop him from becoming President.

It's not the president's job to tell the DOJ to do anything.

The DOJ should be an independent agency. Independent of political influence. Remember when former President Bill Clinton briefly met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on the tarmac at a Phoenix airport?

You pre-magamaroons had a conniption fit.

And btw- many democrats during that time have tried to have the files released. You should probably look into that so as to not embarrass yourself further.
