Lawmakers in the state Senate took the final vote on these taxes on Thursday morning, sending them to Gov. Gavin Newsom's desk where he's expected to sign the legislation before the end of the month. One proposal involves an increase in taxes on health plans, which experts say will raise rates for individuals with private health insurance by an average of $100 per year. This tax is expected to generate $2 billion annually to help fund Medi-Cal, the state's health insurance program for low-income residents. The second tax increase would impose a new sales tax on digital software, including programs like Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Slack, and Workday. This tax, starting at 7.25%, could vary depending on the region of California where the software is purchased or used. The measure is projected to bring in approximately $900 million annually for the state's general fund. read more
Soon, however, the producers ran into obstacles. Officials from the county Beaches and Harbors Department and the California Coastal Commission told them they couldn't park their trucks overnight, light fires or drive on the sand. "We're a lifeguard show," "Baywatch" co-creator Greg Bonann remembers saying. "What do you mean we can't drive a truck on the beach?" Suddenly the show was at risk of becoming the wrong kind of symbol: this one, a victim of California's tangle of regulations. No one in power " not Newsom or L.A. Mayor Karen Bass " wanted to read the headline about "Baywatch" bailing out of Los Angeles. When elected leaders were summoned to the Fox lot to smooth things over, the show held all the leverage. "After a while, you have to sit down with the right people and say, Guys, do we want to have this show here or not?'" Bonann says. read more

An effort to repeal California's "top two" primary system is underway. "The grassroots repeal effort is fueled by concerns that California's primaries are disenfranchising a majority of California voters by limiting choice to candidates from one party," read a news release from Steven Mavigilo, the official proponent of the proposed measure. Implemented in 2011, the primary system allows voters in statewide contests to choose any candidate from any party in the primary, regardless of their party registration. The top two vote-getters then advance to the general election, even if they belong to the same party. read more
The US government has misspent almost $3 trillion since 2003, leading government auditors to make a fresh call for a federal data analytics centre " a proposal first suggested in 2022. Total improper payments reached $185.8 billion in 2025 alone, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) " up $24 billion on 2024 in the first rise for the statistic since 2021. Overpayments by federal agencies were the largest problem, accounting for 82% of the misspending, and just five programmes misspent $135.8 billion, with Medicare making $57 billion in improper payments. read more
No wonder "the Machine" went after poor Katie Porter so hard
This is a ridiculous statement. Katie fell apart because of her temperament (throwing boiling water on husband), which, unfortunately for her, was exposed in an interview.

Xavier Becerra
Was he boosted by DonorBots??
There has been reporting from off the record sources saying this guy is a loser and kind of a dummy. And yet, if you say anything bad about the guy, you get harassed by dozens of freaks on the internet. Well it turns out that there are about 3000 bot accounts amplifying Becerra and attacking anyone who is pro Steyer. Is anything on the internet real?

He is a dummy, but probably has some political savviness.
Drivers who violate traffic laws are not arrested beaten thrown in detention centers separated from their families and children and then sent to a country they have never been in and cannot even speak the language.

They are arrested, and suppose given your fantasies they are beaten, if they don't have a license.
Misdemeanor violations carry up to six months in jail and a maximum of $1,000 in fines.

Well are you saying they shouldn't get Due Process?
The issue is when they are summoned to court, they don't appear.

Unlike drivers with violations.
But what is the disparity in the length of time served for black vs white perps?

Country - 4.7% probably within the margin of error.

Seems like Blacks and Hispanics commit way more crime than their population would warrant.
Capital felonies are the most serious felony crimes in the state of Texas. Convictions for a capital offense require a sentence of either imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for life, life without parole or by death. The only situation in Texas state law in which someone is eligible for a life sentence with a chance of parole is if the state's attorneys do not seek the death penalty and the person was younger than 18 at the time of the arrest.

The investigation of into his wife's dealing started under the Biden Administration.
A person familiar with the matter confirmed that multiple federal investigations were underway related to the governor, including one looking at his wife's finances. But the person disputed Mr. Newsom's assertion that the investigations were politically motivated, and said they had been initiated by federal law enforcement officials in California, not launched by officials in Washington. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.

Otherwise your general perspective seems to be that people are jealous.
Its mine perspective for sure, what else could it be.
Sounds like a bit of projection there; his shine wore off around here before it ever really got started.
LOL This is for sure a lie, because everything he's worked on has been an environmentalist wetdream, literally every project, which is why I support him so much.
These are historic projects. EV's, Solar, Rockets, Tunnels, AI .... the dude would be a shining example of Abundance possibilities, but he supported Trump, thats the only reason he's hated by the haters such as you Corky. But he supported them because the government sucked the life out of companies.
If you can't see the message of the Abundance Bros (Klein & Noah) and the actions by Elon, I can't help you. Your outline of a party is supporting destruction of the individual on the streets through drugs and rampant illegal immigration, not enforcing just laws.
On top of that, not long after I became a regular here,, someone was defending Musk because he had ordered a ModelS.

Was Bibi stupid enough to think he could control Trump?
#2 | Posted by jpw
idk about control, but certainly didn't think Trump would stab Israel in the back.

Maybe this is Trumps way of getting rid of Bibi?? But I imagine its just to get the US out of this situation before the midterms. Hopefully the US learned something, we know the PLA did.
