Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which was quickly followed by a thumbs-up photo-op at a gravestone in Section 60 of the cemetery, where many service members killed in Afghanistan and Iraq are buried. The Trump campaign received warnings about not taking photographs in Section 60, however, the Republican operation did not heed those warnings. read more
[O]ne former supporter left a recent Trump rally saying she won't vote for him this time around, in part because of what she heard. "After listening to that, I'm actually afraid of Trump being president again. I don't know what he was talking about half the time. Perhaps he was always like that but he seems worse, more unstable." read more
And it continues to get worse for the GOP.
When Arlington National Cemetery Denied Trump Joining Gold Star Families, Mike Johnson Stepped In: ReportSo let's get this straight: Two Trump-convention attending parents wanted him to accompany them during a ceremony to commemorate the tragic bombing deaths during our Afghanistan bugout, and Arlington National Cemetery said no because there's federal laws against using military cemeteries for political events or political purposes. So they enlisted the Speaker of the House to override ANC's denial. And then Trump and his goons go out and violate multiple federal statutes, including physically assaulting a female employee who had tried to make them adhere to the protocols they had agreed to; no professional photos in Section 60. And they published photos of the grave of another soldier who'd committed suicide, and whose family was NOT okay with Trump using their son's headstone to further his own political agenda.
When Arlington National Cemetery reportedly told Gold Star families whose children were killed in the disastrous 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan that former President Donald Trump could not accompany them to mark the third anniversary of their children's deaths, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) stepped in.
"The Speaker of the House had to get involved. Reps [Darrell] Issa (R-CA), [Brian] Mast (R-FL), and Chairman Mike McCaul were instrumental in assisting in the Gold Star families," another source told the Caller.
"Arlington Cemetery officials claimed the families didn't want any media, photography, or videography at Section 60, contradicting what the families had actually requested. The families were fine with the media, designated by the Trump team, but Arlington kept pushing back, obstructing the process," the source added. "This would have not happened without Speaker Johnson."
What a thoroughly disgusting individual, desecrating one of America's most revered and sacred places with his thuggishness and buffoonery.
The family of the late Master Sgt. Andrew Marckesano, a Green Beret who died by suicide after serving several combat tours and suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, also spoke out Wednesday about Trump's cemetery visit, saying they were upset about him filming near his grave.Wonder how long it will take Trump or one of his rabid attack dogs to make crude and snide remarks regarding the comments leveled by Sgt. Marckesano's sister for having the audacity to point out that Trump's conduct violated federal law as well as the protocol instructions given his entourage on Monday?
"According to our conversation with Arlington National Cemetery, the Trump campaign staffers did not adhere to the rules that were set in place for this visit to Staff Sergeant Hoover's gravesite in Section 60, which lays directly next to my brother's grave," Marckesano's sister Michele told The New York Times.
"We hope that those visiting this sacred site understand that these were real people who sacrificed for our freedom and that they are honored and respected accordingly," she added.
Probably about a 1/10ths scaramucci is my guess.
*Two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery. When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source. To me, the most egregious part of this entire travesty was the fact that male Trump staffers physically confronted a woman only doing her job and then immediately denigrated her personally in public comments when both the law and the orders given the Trump campaign explicitly forbade campaign photography in Section 60. And then to top it off, head hillbilly and VP candidate JD Vance tried to tie actual VP Harris to a question he received about the incident that he dismissed, and then proceeded to do a drive-by shooting of Harris' judgment and character over something he invented out of his own diseased mind and ended his baseless rant by telling the VPOTUS to "Go to hell(!)" as though her existence alone is worthy of condemnation.
*USA Today published a report on veterans who were not pleased with Trump's actions. The article quoted retired Major General Paul Eaton, a senior adviser at VoteVets, who called the campaign's actions at the cemetery "nauseating" and "repugnant."
*As feared, Team Trump has already released a campaign video featuring footage of the GOP candidate's visit to Arlington.
*The Trump campaign's actions this week likely violated federal law. A Washington Post report reviewed the relevant details.
*Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance said Vice President Kamala Harris "can go to hell" for criticizing Trump's cemetery appearance, despite the fact that Harris hadn't actually made any such criticisms. The Ohio senator later declined to say whether presidential candidates should have to abide by federal law prohibiting campaigns from filming at gravesites.
Trump and his lapdog Vance simply are either unprepared or too buried within their own misogyny and bullying to figure out how to counter the momentum Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have generated which now finds the Trump campaign foundering in its inability to find an effective counter. Somehow I don't think bullying and denigrating women will turn out to be a winning strategy.
And why exactly, does Trump insist that laws don't apply to him if they run counter to what he wants to do? One couldn't possibly find a person who believes more fervently that his unearned, undeserved privilege immunizes him from any and all criticism - including the right to break laws as he sees fit. Hopefully the election returns and Jack Smith will finally disabuse him of that thought once and for all.
Here is a link to a report on Kroger's leadership's public statements and financial disclosures regarding their sales and profit numbers during the pandemic.
Just peruse it and you'll find they self admitted to Wall Street precisely what they were doing to counter the covid-caused inflation that enabled them to set a quarterly record profit while they almost bragged about getting more money from their customers than previously. The details are all in business speak, so don't miss the forest for the trees. But there should never be any doubt that our corporations number one goal is to increase profits, so however that can be accomplished is viewed as a win by them and their shareholders with little regard to how it might affect their customers as long as what they're doing doesn't drive them away.
"There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, 'Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me... - you can't get fooled again!'"
Trump is literally trying to drive a wedge right down the middle of his own evangelical base.
I have never seen any presidential candidate thrown more spaghetti against the wall than Trump is right now. If he keeps this up, I can see many pro-life righties staying home this year because they absolutely aren't going to vote for Harris and Trump is rolling back bans and promising free IVF - which would means millions of fertilized ovums that will never be birthed.
I'm afraid those are deal breakers with the hardliners.
