Ford Pardoned Nixon Fifty Years Ago Today

Fifty years ago, newly installed President Gerald Ford simply got tired of questions about the legal fate of resigned predecessor Richard Nixon.

At the time I thought the pardon was a good idea. Trump has taught me how wrong I was.

I thought then that the sight of a former high roller confined to prison might be instructional. That view has only solidified over the years since.

Ford got his job after Nixon resigned, and you will never convince me that the deal to keep him out of prison wasn't made prior to the resignation. Ford lied to the American people quite often on the matter, sort of like those Supreme Corrupt Court Justices who lied about "settled law" to get lifetime jobs.

If that pardon hadn't happened, if Nixon had gone to prison, the tiny-fingered, ferret-wearing, cheeto-faced sh*tgibbon would never have even tried to be president.

Reagan wouldn't have gotten away with the criminal "just keep the hostages a little bit longer" deal, or Iran-Contra. Shrubby would still be in prison for war crimes.

And the failed real estate developer turned TV personality would never have come down that escalator to call Mexicans rapists, because he would know that the grift he was planning would send him to prison for the rest of his worthless life.

Nixon would be so proud. His hope and dream that:

"If the President does it then it's not illegal."

Finally came true.

The Supreme Court just expanded Presidential immunity; when and if we get to reform that corrupt court that is the first decision, of many, which should be completely reversed, lligitimateincluding Bush v Gore. No we can't rewrite history but we could declare the Bush Presidency illigitimate.
