DOJ Charges over 1,500 with Focus on Trump

This week marks 45 months since the devastating January 6 attack, where over 140 police officers were assaulted as rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, delaying the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

"The filing also described Trump's public statements as calculated moves to provoke anger among his supporters, even as his advisers discredited his claims of voter fraud.

According to prosecutors, Trump privately dismissed his lawyer Sidney Powell's fraud claims as "crazy," while continuing to use similar rhetoric in public.

Prosecutors allege that Trump "laid the groundwork for his crimes well before" Election Day, including by promoting doubt in the electoral process and planning to declare victory immediately.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has overseen the case, recently addressed Trump's defense team's claims of partisan bias.

"Defendant's opposition brief repeatedly accuses the government of bad-faith partisan bias," Chutkan wrote. "These accusations, for which Defendant provides no support, continue a pattern of defense filings focusing on political rhetoric rather than addressing the legal issues at hand."

To the oft heard refrain of the Buffoon's followers, "The protesters didn't have any weapons."

As proven in Court, the weapons used and carried on Capitol grounds include firearms; OC spray; tasers; edged weapons, including a sword, axes, hatchets, and knives; and makeshift weapons, such as destroyed office furniture, fencing, bike racks, stolen riot shields, baseball bats, hockey sticks, flagpoles, PVC piping, and reinforced knuckle gloves;

Yup. Back a year or two ago, I had that ~discussion~ with an alias.

That alias' premise was along the lines of ~because the Capitol Police did not confiscate any weapons that day, there were none.~

I recall reading an article shortly before Jan 6 detailing street fights between Dotard's brownshirts and counter-protesters. The brownshirts often brought shields, edged weapons, and flagpoles, the flagpoles were loaded with rebar, and had sharp spear tips so the could be used for striking and stabbing, causing serious injury and death. These were the flagpoles on Jan 6, and you could see them on video being used against the cops. I am still amazed that the only shooting was Trump victim Babbitt. You notice how that stopped the attack on the Speakers lounge? If they had dropped a few MAGAts outside when they were beating cops, it would have wrapped things up quickly. Facing gunfire has a way of focusing the mind, and those caught up with riot brain would have stopped and gone home, because most of them had no idea they could die, and were not willing to do so for something they didn't even understand.

Yeah.

That is a quite significant aspect of all these accusations against fmr Pres Trump ...

From the January 6 Committee's investigation onward ...

The majority of the witnesses seem to be Republicans.

Of that apparent majority, there does seem to be a significant percentage who were in the Trump administration and even in the Trump White House.

If they had dropped a few MAGAts outside when they were beating cops, it would have wrapped things up quickly.

I'm not so sure. There were back ups with weapons for the dozen or so seditious conspiracy convicted insurrectionists. The backups just needed the appropriate signal.

Chutkan granted Smith's motion to post redacted versions of the exhibits, something that could include grand jury transcripts, texts and other evidence assembled by prosecutors.

#9 You leave out the salient part, "[b]ut Chutkan also agreed to stay her ruling for seven days after an earlier motion from Trump's legal team asked for additional time "so that President Trump can evaluate litigation options relating to the decision."

So, the Buffoon's dice roll is now or later. His last roll ended with Smith's 165 page evidentiary brief about 30 days before the election, as required by the SC. So, now the Bufoon thinks it's a good idea to ask previously adverse courts for relief? An exercise that will ultimately cause the release of actual evidence closer to election.
