Amy Coney Barrett Appears to Be Breaking with Conservatives Again

Amy Coney Barrett appeared to break with conservatives during a hearing on gun control on Tuesday

More

Barrett has expressed her support for the regulation which forces ghost gun purchasers to obtain a gun license.

Comments

"Discussing how components can be defined as a weapon, Justice Samuel Alito asked Prelogar:

"If I put on a counter some eggs, some chopped-up ham, some chopped-up pepper and onions, is that a western omelet?"

Prelogar replied that they are not, as they can be used to make many other dishes, whereas the components of a ghost gun can only be used to make a firearm.

"The key difference here is that these weapon parts kits are designed and intended to be used as instruments of combat and they have no other conceivable use."

Ooh, so a potential firearm is effectively the same thing as a fully formed firearm? Interesting argument...

That's not the argument. The argument is about the statutory language, "or may readily be converted to expel a projectile" encompasses ATF's interpretation that receivers and frames fit within the statute's definition of "weapon." www.scotusblog.com

I think it does.

So even if it hasn't been developed into one yet, it's still legally recognized as a weapon.

theres something wrong with Alito. theyre talking about weapons you use to kill people with and he's discussing breakfast.

This Court, thanks to some decisions from Barrett, has already moved the country into insane territory with regard to eliminating gun regulations that this little break from her is meaningless.

Amazing! Corky's argiment is obvious to all the members of the court but now Barrett is actually ready to consider it. Iy's almost as if she;s growing a conscience. Something the reactionary members never have.

If Samuel Alito's ghost still lives we need to have an exorcist remove him, he is still affectio the original Constitution women coy;fm't votr, b;sck prople would be slaves (someone please ingormng the members with his "originalist" b.s. Realiae, the original members of the court didn't bw,ieve in "originalism". Hello??? Tjat's why they invented amendments because,f you rteally want to return the original Constitution; women couldn't vote or own property, black peole were slavea and homosexuals could be murdered with no vonsequencea. Antonin Scalia was a horrible person who should never have been on the Supreme Court. Not surptidingly hr was appointed by 20 Mule Team fake cowboy Ronnie Raygun!

Yep and the ATF is a legislative body now. They said it when they outlawed the pistol brace.
