Judge: Georgia Counties Are Mandated to Certify Elections

Election certification is a mandatory duty, not discretionary, for county election officials in Georgia, a judge ruled on Tuesday, rejecting assertions made by a Republican elections official that elections board members could refuse to certify an election based on their suspicions of fraud or error.

"Julie Adams, a Republican member of the Fulton county board of registration and elections, brought the suit earlier this year after abstaining from a vote to certify the May primary election.

The America First Policy Institute, a legal thinktank that was formed by former Donald Trump advisers in the wake of Trump's 2020 election loss to help lay legal groundwork for his potential return to office, joined the suit."

A win for democracy, a loss for wannbe dictators.

"Election certification is a mandatory duty, not discretionary, for county election officials in Georgia, a judge ruled on Tuesday, rejecting assertions made by a Republican elections official"

The game plan was to refuse to certify just enough districts that Harris won in to tip GA to Trump.

Making minorities stand 10 hours in line to vote while blocking people handing out water and food wasn't enough.

Purging voter rolls for people whose names appear to be the same as felons wasn't enough.

Requiring state issued ID when in some cases it would require traveling across a county to the only place to get one wasn't enough.

Make sure if you are in GA you check your status BEFORE you go to the polls. If you're not registered, go and submit your provisional ballot, but MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR COUNTY ELECTION OFFICE after election day to make sure your vote is counted. Just filling out a provisional ballot is not enough and will be discarded if you do not follow up.

The concept of "separation of powers" , once again on display. It is, or can be, how we Americans fight back against Trumpist/Muskian fascism, if Trump gets back in. Too bad Trump was able to corrupt our highest court, the Supreme Corrupt Court, but still there are enemies of fascism out there.
Fascism, the long time rule of the many by the few. Happens in Communist countries, capitalist countries, anywhere there is no system of checks and balances.
