25 Years Ago, a Great Movie Flopped at the Box Office

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fight Club, we're sharing the reasons why it's had such an impact over the decades.

I rewatched this again yesterday. It still holds up extremely well. There are also many things that I'm catching that I missed on previous viewings.

Like the Joker movies, it seems there were many who went out of their way to misinterpret what the film was about or the message it was sending.

There are more twists in the movie than just the obvious one that was explicitly spelled out.

But Videodrome is still better.

Over rated and kinda gay.

One of my favorites, but, as with Olver Stone's "Wall Street", it's too bad too many @$$#013$ are inspired by the bad guys in these films, and can't understand that the bad guys are bad guys

I think it's okay to talk about it now, after a quarter century. Tyler Durden was an alter ego created by the unnamed protagonist, not too dissimilar to how Joker was created by Arthur Fleck as an extreme reaction to the world he lived in. Clearly, neither movie was advocating for indulging in this type of extremism, but they did acknowledge and look at how and why those who feel disaffected or abused by the system are enticed to go down that path.

The movie has aged very well.

One of my ten favorite movies of all time. Both for entertainment and social critique of America. And the great Pixies soundtrack.
