During America's tragic involvement in Vietnam 60 years ago, the meme "Burn down the village in order to save it" emerged.

Putin wants to re-establish rule over Ukraine. But in essence he is burning down the village he is trying to save.

Ukraine's dams and power systems are not military targets, but Putin's wants to demoralize, terrify, punish, and freeze the Ukrainians. So as part of the Nakba, Putin destroys Kiev's infrastructure. Vlad the Impaler knows how cold Ukraine gets.

The animus between Ukrainians and Russians has been thoroughly baked into the DNA cake for at least two generations.

All I know is I would advise young people not to volunteer to go into the services in combat arms. Sure, let the service train you to for a trade, but until there is a return of the draft when the kids of the oligarchs have to scrub toilets and dodge bullets alongside the children of the poor, why die for Musk's empire, or Trump's?

Did the Pres-elect Trump during his first term, where he seemed to be Pres Putin's hand puppet, have anything to do with Pres Putin's acting as he has been with respect to the sovereign county of Ukraine?

Has Pres Putin's deep influence (and control?) upon the current Republican Party made Pres Putin more aggressive in trying to achieve his goal to reestablish the old USSR?
