Jimmy Carter vs a Nuclear Disaster

For the good of humanity Carter allowed himself to be exposed to far more radiation than any modern doctor would say was safe. Yet he lived passed the age of 100. This sounds like the start of a work of fiction but it really did happen.

On Jimmy Carter and Nuclear Power. Jimmy Carter was a nuclear engineer. He helped rescue Canada when an experimental reactor underwent partial meltdown. He had considerable expertise in the field of nuclear reactors. He was deeply concerned about proliferation of nuclear weapons.

That it was in Canada only makes the story wilder.

One of the reasons he's the only namesake of a Seawolf class submarine. Or any other submarine.

Has anyone any info on USS Richard Milhouse Nixon? Didn't think so.

@#6 ... One of the reasons he's the only namesake of a Seawolf class submarine. ...

OK, you got me curious.

Found this ...

Seawolf-class submarine
en.wikipedia.org

...
Boats in class

Seawolf
Connecticut
Jimmy Carter
...

So yeah, fmr Pres Carter is the only person a Seawolf-class sub has been named after.

(see that cited Wikipedia article for more details.)

Carter is the only person a Seawolf-class sub has been named after.

The navy traditionally named aircraft carriers after presidents or senior naval officers and submarines after cities or states. They made an exception for Jimmy.
