France will consider extending the protection of its nuclear arsenal to its allies said French President Emmanuel Macron, while warning that Europe needs to be ready for the US to not "remain by our side" in the Ukraine-Russia war.
Decades ago, France established its own nuclear arsenal so as not to depend on the US. They have 290 nuclear warheads and their range can strike Moscow. But Paris would be atomized within minutes. Look where Trumpf and Putin have taken us to, another "Mutual Assured Destruction" (MAD) scenario. Link: theconversation.com
@#55 .,.. Putin has threatened the use of nuclear weapons on numerous occasions ...
One may have to ask ,,, why does the current alias your are responding to seem to ignore that?
Hmmmm ...
One example ...
Where Putin stands on using nuclear weapons to win Russia's war in Ukraine (June 2024)
www.pbs.org
... The message to NATO from President Vladimir Putin was simple and stark: Don't go too far in providing military support for Ukraine, or you'll risk a conflict with Russia that could quickly turn nuclear.
As the war in Ukraine turns slowly in Moscow's favor, Putin declared he doesn't need nuclear weapons to achieve his goals. But he also says it's wrong for the West to assume that Russia will never use them. ...
Of course, that was before Pres Trump switched sides in the conflict, and now seems to support Pres Putin.
