US Sending Stryker Brigade to Mexican Border

Under the direction of US Northern Command, approximately 2,400 Soldiers from elements of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 4th Infantry Division, from Fort Carson, CO will soon deploy to enhance DHS and ICE efforts to maintain security at the southern border. Tasks carried out by 2nd SBCT will include detection and monitoring; administrative support; transportation support; warehousing and logistic support; vehicle maintenance; and engineering support. Personnel will not conduct or be involved in interdiction or deportation operations. The 2nd SBCT provides unique military capabilities to protect and maintain the sovereignty and territorial integrity and security of the southern border, a top priority of the DOD.

With the Carolinas ablaze and in states of emergency, wouldn't our 2,400 Soldiers be better used there rather than the US-Mexican border? I wonder Senator Lindseed Graham thinks of this idea?

Isn't the Stryker kind of a piece of junk?

You would have to ask the 11Bs on the website. But our Soldiers aren't junk and could be used to help the firefighters in the Carolinas.

No. It's deal for it's niche, sitting between a Humvee and a Bradley. It was never supposed to be anything but an interim vehicle lineup to bridge the gap to Future Combat Vehicle lineup.

Aren't Strykers used for raiding, screening, and armed recon?

This smells like another Donald photo op designed to fool some already very follish people.

I figured we might have an infantryman on drudge to better answer any questions about the Stryker. Our Soldiers would be a bigger help in the Carolinas to fight the fires. And Trumpf didn't get his photo op (yet) because of his silly tariffs announcement. Nero is playing the lute while Rome burns down.

Strykers are built in Canada so replacements are 25% more at the minimum.

Hi Scotty. Yup, in London, Ontario. During WWII, trains carried US and Canadian airplane, tank, and artillery parts across the border for mass assembly with little paperwork to expedite the war effort against the enemy. Before Dec 1941, Americans living in Canada joined their forces to fight against the Axis Powers. During the Vietnam War, 20,000 Canadians enlisted in the US military; at least 134 were killed, like this US Army Ranger below.

Trumpf really screwed up our long alliance with Canada and who knows how toxic the atmosphere at NORAD has become?
