Senate Clears the Way to Avert Shutdown

In a 62-38 vote, a stopgap spending measure authored by Republicans moved forward and will likely avert a government shutdown. Sen. Chuck Schumer and nine others from his caucus helped the GOP avert the shutdown. A final vote on the measure is set to happen tonight.

What's the reason for the support, or lack of pushback?

What are the dems really afraid of?

Sometimes when you know you don't have a winning hand and your opponent knows it bluffing would be foolish. I think it is childish to blame Schumer for doing what he had to do to avoid a government shutdown which is exactly what Musk/Trump want.

Careful Granni, you can throw your back out twisting like that

I'm not convinced a government shutdown would hurt Trump more than it would hurt America.

I'm not convinced a bullet to the brain would hurt Trump more than it would hurt America.

In either case, I'd rather not find out.

But I am looking forward to four-plus years of "Democrats didn't shut down the government, so it's their fault for all the things Trump did!"

Democrats should just wish Trump into the corn field with the amazing powers they have.

The Dem leadership consists of pols clearly out of touch with the mainstream of the Party. 2026 is gonna be bloody for numerous incumbent Demratic senators. They have betrayed us in a way we have not seen in a very very long time. Schumer is toast and deservedly so. A useless triangulating piece of crap.

Nothing is going to be "bloody". Your fellow democrats are going to vote the garbage right back into office, much like the ones who keep putting Cocaine Mitch and Linda Graham back into office. It's why they continue doing the same stupid ----, they aren't afraid of being replaced.

Making a bad situation worse?

Waiting for the perfect pitch?

God to intervene?

Just guessing. I have no clue but I sure hope someone grows a set real soon before it's too late. Mr Toad is going completely off the road with his wild ride.

Will no one rid us of this turbulent creature?

You poor bastard. I almost feel sorry for you. You're part of the same club who stands squarely behind democrats who couldn't wait to authorize the war in Iraq. You have no moral high ground to stand on. Now, please ---- right off, right over there ---> somewhere.

I almost feel sorry for you.

Almost counts for nothing.

And that would require compassion. Something you obviously lack.

democrats who couldn't wait to authorize the war in Iraq.

"Why didn't the democrats stop us stupid thoughtless republicans from recklessly attacking another country based on a lie?"

Good question.

Regardless I feel sorry for America for what Trumpy and the maga maroons are trying to do to her. I don't think she should just lay back and take it tho.

"Why didn't the democrats stop us stupid thoughtless republicans from recklessly attacking another country based on a lie?"

Because those democrats were in on the grift as much as the republicans who voted for ii - nation rebuilding and energy kickbacks.
