Not really apropos of this article, but i once watched a woman fall to her death at a National Park. I was about ten yards from where she landed and i was the only one nearby. She was wearing a red dress. Her body was absolutely pulverized. As if he intestines exploded in ever direction. I took off my t-shirt and covered her face. Her family, who were way up on the cliff did not even know she had fallen until ten minutes later when they could not find her. I justsat with the body until the family finally made its way to the location. Husband and two teenage daughters. They were visiting from Chicago. Took about an hour until rangers arrived. And a helicopter to airlift the body out. And i never got my t-shirt back so i bought another one at a Park Gift Shop.
My way of processing the horror was to attempt macabre humor. What is red and can't fly? I think of the pain of the shocked grieved family and still so sad for them. Especially because I had seen them all earlier on the trail and they seemed to behaving such a nice time.
I would not be surprised if people in America now prefer China to America.
