American Enterprise Institute: Trump Admin Math Error in Tariffs

The problem is the White House used 0.25 as the elasticity of import prices. Per the research paper the USTR cited in the tariff determination, the elasticity is actually closer to 1, or 0.945 to be precise. The AEI authors say the White House may have used the elasticity of retail prices instead of import prices.

The formula used by the Trump administration to levy reciprocal tariffs contains a serious math error that over-inflates the impact by about a factor of four, per economists at the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute.

The American Enterprise Institute is run by fascists, for fascists.
They're getting exactly what they have always wanted.

MAGA doesn't like intellectuals.

Stupid thinking is a bonus for them.

Everyone wants to just fit in.

It isn't even a math problem.
It's a lie.

Another problem with Trump's tariffs:

He announced an additional 50% tariff on China ...

After already having 54% tariffs on them.

Maybe he was going for the total of his chest and stomach circumferences (104)

The AEI is part of the problem and has been for over 20 years. They are a proven Zionist front group that lied America into Iraq and elsewhere.

The AEI and similar think tanks use chaos to feed into and enable the Empire's desires. It feeds into the two-party sock puppet show and will always amplify and encourage arguments between the two sides that do not involve core tenets of the oligarchy. Any protest movement that actually highlights the abusiveness of the US Empire (regardless of who happens to be in office) will ALWAYS be ignored at best and smeared at worst. That's why we've seen so much attention go into either MAGA or anti-MAGA, meanwhile genuine anti-war or anti-Empire movements struggle to get off the ground and their supporters either doxxed, deported, or threatened with harm.

As long as Americans can be herded into supporting either of the two mainstream parties against the other, they are fully plugged in to an artificially manufactured worldview which protects the interests of oligarchy and Empire. As long as enough people are either screaming "Go Trump!" or "Never Trump!", the Empire's crimes (both global and domestic) can continue unimpeded.

The Trump WH hiring incompetent loyalists instead of retaining/hiring experts in their fields means all of us will suffer.
