Trump Fires FEMA Head as Hurricane Season Nears

With three weeks before hurricane season begins, Trump fired the acting head of FEMA, Cameron Hamilton. His sin was contradicting Trump when he said: "I do not believe it is in the best interest of the American people to eliminate FEMA." Hamilton was deployed four times overseas as a USN SEAL before he worked for the State Department and DHS. Trump's budget proposes a $644 million cut to FEMA. Trump was sharply critical of FEMA's response to Hurricane Helene, a devastating storm that killed 250 people and inflicted $78.7 billion in damage from Florida to North Carolina. One of the biggest factors for tropical development in 2025 is the abundance of warm water available to fuel storms. Water temperatures across the ocean, as well as in the Gulf and Caribbean, are already well above historical averages, and they will continue to run warm throughout most of the year. This will prime storms for explosive development.

Noaa to stop tracking cost of climate crisis-fueled disasters: Major loss'
www.theguardian.com

... The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) will no longer track the cost of climate crisis-fueled weather disasters, including floods, heatwaves, wildfires and more. It is the latest example of changes to the agency and the Trump administration limiting federal government resources on climate change.

Noaa falls under the US Department of Commerce and is tasked with daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings and climate monitoring. It is also parent to the National Weather Service.

The agency said its National Centers for Environmental Information would no longer update its Billion-Dollar Weather and Climate Disasters database beyond 2024, and that its information " going as far back as 1980 " would be archived.

For decades, it has tracked hundreds of major events across the country, including destructive hurricanes, hailstorms, droughts and freezes that have totaled trillions of dollars in damage.

#3: Thanks, Lamplighter. Americans are going to be in the soup this summer with droughts in the southwest and hurricanes and flooding in the southeast. I imagine tornadoes will pop up in unprecedented areas as well. And Trumpf cut US surveillance and disaster recovery funding. Gut arbet, Republican voters.

Headed by Sec Ludnick.

I'll leave it at that.

What a missed opportunity to claim it all went into Biden's pockets.

You're really slipping.

Schumer is on your doorstep? You must live in a deli.

As for the billions you allege are diverted from FEMA to the Ukraine, is there evidence?

The money sent to Israel is far more egregious.

As for the billions you allege are diverted from FEMA to the Ukraine, is there evidence?

As much evidence as there is for a smoking gun email that was supposed to sink the Biden Crime Syndicate.

In other worlds, none.

He's just repeating rightwing lies.

Seems to be an ongoing issue for your current alias.

Trump also cut staff and funding at NOAA/National Weather Service, meaning less storm prediction and poorer real time reports.

So, as far as natural disasters go, Trump's cut both ends that keep America safe and help them to recover after natural disasters.

@#14 ... So, as far as natural disasters go, Trump's cut both ends that keep America safe and help them to recover after natural disasters. ...

Yup.

And America may not suffer the consequence of those cuts this year, or maybe even next year.

But it is the long-term consequence of Pres Trump's policies that concern me.

The dumbing down of America.

An intentional retreat from American Excellence.

Total clown. Everyone who ever voted for him is a total clown, as well. Hopefully, he dies soon and the clown show won't have the head clown to lead them into armageddon.
