France, Saudi Arabia Push for Gaza Peace by Disarming Hamas

France and Saudi Arabia are quietly working on a new plan to disarm Hamas as part of a broader effort to bring peace to Gaza and push forward Palestinian statehood. According to sources familiar with the talks, the two countries want to transform the Iran-backed group into a purely political organization. Under this plan, Hamas could retain some political role, an offer intended to make disarmament more appealing.

Hamas voluntarily disarming has as much chance of happening as ISIS giving up its guns, IMHO. But I've been wrong before ...

Welp, peace means Bibi's criminal trial(s) can go forward. At least that's what many pro-Hamas types here have said.

Welp, genocide is horrorshow. And you keep saying "pro-Hamas types" like it's ingenuous. You're cheering on the barbarism, and it's disgraceful

Throwing in "Iran-backed" is another distraction; Bloomberg News just can't help itself. 25% of UN members do not recognize the State of Palestine, but 75% do. If France President Emmanuel Macron, UK PM Keir Starmer, and Canada PM Mark Carney mean what they say about a peace plan, they should put their money where their mouth is and just recognize the State of Palestine.

Let me help them:

"As of today, _________ recognizes the State of Palestine."

There, nine simple words.

An international arrest warrant issued by the ICC for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu remains in effect. The indictment reads:

Allegedly responsible for the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare and of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024.

An indictment is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hamas voluntarily disarming has as much chance

Disarming Hamas seems like something IDF ought to be doing.

Sure is! It's a shame that's the the Palestinians have sworn to do to the Jews.

Barbarism is what the Palestinians did on October 7th, targeting 1,200 civilian men, women, and children for rape and murder. To stop Israel from making peace with Saudi Arabia. And then the Palestinians cried when Israel handed their butts to them, which is what any other nation would have done in Israel's place, except Israel was comparatively restrained with its use of violence.

That was the Palestinian's entire master plan. Commit a heinous act, get whooped, and then cry to make the world turn on Israel (not that there was much turning to do for most of the world).

I'm a firm believer in the FAAFO educational process, and the only way to make sure the Palestinians and other terrorists don't go for a repeat performance in the future is to make sure that they gain nothing from their plan.

I'm all for peace. Unfortunately for the Palestinians, and many of the pro-Hamasers who want to blink Israel out of existence, that will likely mean the Palestinians will have to accept Israel's right to exist. Because 10 million nuke Jews aren't going anywhere forcibly. And then maybe Palestinians will finally have a state, which they have never had in the history of the world.

If they don't want to make peace, then I guess the Palestinians can keep murdering and getting killed for it. I'm not going to spare any of my limited supply of sympathy for those who refuse to put two and two together and learn how to get along in life after repeatedly losing wars that they start over land that they stole from others.

"How Palestine rejected offer to have its own state 5 times in the past"

Israel has occupied what was supposed to be the Palestinian state since 1967.

Israel has rejected that there's supposed to be a Palestinian state 1998.

Israel is annexing Gaza as I type this. With plans to exile the refugees they created in 1948 to Africa.

Will that be the sixth offer? You think they'll take it?

"Barbarism is what the Palestinians did on October 7th, targeting 1,200 civilian men, women, and children for rape and murder."

Killing 50,000 civilians is a greater act of barbarism. As is exiling the remaining few million survivors.

So why'd Israel go along with the Palestinian plan?
