Poor Harriet Miers, still wondering why she isn't a Supreme Court Justice.

How could a kid that worked his way through college at a fly over state school get a government job that rightly belongs to a trust fund scion of an entrenched political dynasty from Harvard?

They are not random anymore. Not sure they ever were. Now it's just another tool to use to silence an employee that speaks up or, gawd forbid, talks back.

If you have enough courage to resist tyranny you are obviously on drugs.

You were never a hiring supervisor and never rated job applicants or needed to hire a skilled professional I see.

Experience matters. How much world experience can a 22 year old computer nerd have??

Thomas Fugate has a face for radio, and with his brain power a career as a minor-league bat boy awaits...

I know I wouldn't hire someone that claims to be a Marine and threatens to murder fellow citizens because they disagree with his politics. I can see where hiring the politically connected trust fund scion from Harvard may have advantages over a fly-over schooled kid that worked his way through college. The scion probably vacationed (can it be called vacation if you never actually worked a day in your life?) at the right spots and knows the right people. The trust fund kid probably interned at one of his parent's companies or a USAID grift charity.
