In this case, Trump screwed over the country that was invaded that he promised to help... and let the invader keep the land they took.

Just as he is doing in Ukraine.

And he's given Israel the ok to take control of

A bombshell judgement was released yesterday by BC's Supreme Court, declaring Aboriginal title over land in Richmond, including private property.

If this stands, it has massive implications for private property across BC.

"US brokers a deal between long-hostile Armenia and Azerbaijan - POLITICO" www.politico.com

The agreement is the culmination of decades of U.S. efforts to broker an end to the conflict, which arose when the countries gained independence from the Soviet Union. The Biden administration came close to securing a similar deal.

As part of the agreement, the U.S. will make several gestures of goodwill towards Baku, a once-close ally that has gravitated toward Russia in recent years.

The U.S. will lift restrictions on defense cooperation with Baku when the administration issues a document waiving a section of the Freedom Support Act of 1992, a law that prohibits direct assistance to the government of Azerbaijan because of its disputes with Armenia.

So others do the heavy lifting and Trump takes credit for the agreement. Why am I not surprised

#13 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-08-09 02:31 AM

#13. The leaders of both countries have said that Trump was instrumental in getting the peace deal done. Had this been brokered by Boinken a year ago I would have given him high praise and would hav viewed this piece deal as an objectively good thing.

Would you view this peace deal favorably if it was brokered by Macron or Anthony Blinken?

#18 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-08-09 11:03 AM

It's insane that you view EVERYTHING through a Trump lens. This deal ends 35 years of conflict. That is a good thing.

" "Today we are writing a great new history," Azerbaijani President Aliyev said as he addressed journalists at the White House together with Trump and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan.

Aliyev thanked Trump for bringing "peace" to the Caucasus region.

Armenia's Pashinyan said the deal represented "opening a chapter of peace," calling it a success "for our countries and for our region."

He also commended Trump for his "legacy as a statesman and the peacemaker.""

Obama did nothing for the noble prize and that's a fact. Trump has ended wars lasting decades. That's what the prize should be for.

#31 | Posted by boaz at 2025-08-09 12:23 PM

Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 "for his [Obama's] extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," according to the Nobel Committee. The award also recognized his vision of a world free of nuclear weapons.
Specifically, the Nobel Committee highlighted Obama's work in the following areas:
Strengthening international diplomacy:
Obama actively engaged with world leaders and sought to rebuild alliances that had been strained.
Promoting nuclear disarmament:
Obama's vision for a world without nuclear weapons, and his efforts to reduce nuclear stockpiles, were seen as a positive step towards global peace.
Focus on climate change:
The Nobel Committee also acknowledged Obama's focus on global warming as a significant international issue, though this was not a primary focus of the award.

I couldn't care less if Trump gets or doesn't get the award.

As for Obama, Nobel debased their award giving it Obama for not accomplishing anything at the time the award was given.

Inspires Hope for a Better Future

Barack H. Obama, the 44th President of the United States, had been in power for less than eight months when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009. Among the reasons it gave, the Nobel Committee lauded Obama for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". Emphasis was also given to his support - in word and deed - for the vision of a world free from nuclear weapons.

Even before the election, Obama had advocated dialogue and cooperation across national, ethnic, religious and political dividing lines. As President, he called for a new start to relations between the Muslim world and the West based on common interests and mutual understanding and respect. In accordance with a promise he made during his election campaign, he set in motion a plan for the withdrawal of U.S. occupying forces from Iraq.

During his first year in power, President Obama showed himself to be a strong spokesman for human rights and democracy, and as a constructive supporter of the work being done to put effective measures in place to combat the climate crisis. This is in line with his appeal: "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges".

#36 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-08-09 12:34 PM

Obama hadn't accomplished anything when the award was given.

He was nominated for the work he did as a Senator.

I couldn't care less if Trump gets or doesn't get the award.

Lewzer certainly cares. His desperation is palpable.

#37 | Posted by REDIAL at 2025-08-09 12:36 PM

BTW Obama shouldn't take credit for the withdraw from the Iraq war. That was Dubya's doings. Just for clarification sake. Obama wanted to stay.

#40 | Posted by Zed at 2025-08-09 12:41 PM

Strengthening international diplomacy

So has every other President. Even those who didn't win the prize.

Obama actively engaged with world leaders and sought to rebuild alliances that had been strained.

So has everyone else, especially those who were NOT President.

Focus on climate change

Oh, so he was promoting the progressive world view....

Emphasis was also given to his support - in word and deed - for the vision of a world

Yea, we know. The liberal/progressive/feminist worldview.

Meanwhile, we are actually on a thread about peace deals being made by Trump, and not his first, and you wont acknowledge it.

Trump deserves the prize more than anyone else. Giving it to Obama at that time, before he had even done anything, cheapened the prize.

Come to think of it, Obama was the first DEI recipient of the award.

Many notable individuals and organizations have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Some prominent past winners include Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, Barack Obama, and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The prize is awarded for efforts to promote peace, reconciliation, and human rights.
Here's a more detailed look at some laureates:
Individuals:
The list includes activists like Jane Addams, politicians like Jimmy Carter, and humanitarians like Wangari Maathai.
Organizations:
The prize has also been given to organizations like the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Women:
19 women have received the Nobel Peace Prize, including notable figures like Malala Yousafzai, Shirin Ebadi, and Aung San Suu Kyi.
Multiple recipients:
The International Committee of the Red Cross has been awarded the prize three times.
Youngest and oldest recipients:
Malala Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel laureate, receiving the prize at the age of 17, while the oldest recipient was Joseph Rotblat, who received the prize at the age of 87.

Hitler was a sexual criminal. His issue was ------ and the related kidnapping and imprisonment of his niece, who later killed herself.

Wouldn't it be nice to take care of the problem of Donald Trump without the expenditure or many millions in human lives or trillions in treasure?

I think so.

People who try to launder what Trump is, to give him the appearance of humanity, are something that stands in the way of peace and a civilized society.
