Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Back In the Water

Fifty years ago on June 20, 1975, the movie "Jaws" debuted in theaters, making swimmers in every ocean think about sharing the water with an apex predator. Events to mark the day are occurring in Martha's Vineyard where Steven Spielberg shot the classic. "The majority of our hotels, if not all of them, are completely filled up this weekend," said Erica Ashton, executive director of the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.

Helluva summertime blockbuster.
Robert Shaw stole the show, chewing up scenery like a weed-whacker.
As for the sharks, they're still out there and down there.
Should you go, enjoy the scenery and remember: you're completely disadvantaged down there.
Other than that, A-OK.

I was 12 and in Manhattan Beach. One day all the trash cans and telephone poles were covered with stickers of the shark image. Nobody knew what it was about. Two weeks later the movie was released. I had to see it. Waited in line. After that the summer at the beach was completely ruined. Promotion like that can't happen anymore.

Was at the beach on the north end of Amelia Island yesterday and we saw a shark fin.

Perhaps a bigger threat now is the fetid water from failing infrastructure and climate change.

I watched the "best" of Jaws 3 last night, highly recommended (maybe have a brewski or two or take some puffs of the good stuff beforehand)

No comment about the failing infrastructure? In your world global ocean temperatures haven't been increasing? Did I say man-made? ---- oFF.
Note to self, always log in so you don't see that -------- posts.

Failing infrastructure due to Democrat and RINO GOP rule? Yes, that is a probably too - mostly seen in deep blue -------- states and cities. The infrastructure in NYC and California are 3rd world quality. California highways are terrible because Democrats stole the gas tax for decades. California cannot build a dam or reservoirs because state leaders want droughts. They also can't build their choo-choo train despite BILLIONS wasted. Let me guess, those are all the fault of the GOP which does't have any power in the state at any level.
