What Pres Putin is doing about Pres Trump's comments seems to be Pres Putin saying that those comments are an admission of weakness by Pres trump in standing up to Pres Putin.
That aspect seems to be how Pres Putin has played Pres Trump from the beginning.
In spite of the lame (I'm being kind) video recently released by Sec Hegseth[1] about US military strength, Pres Trump seems to be bowing down to Pres Putin.
