One aspect of this that I am wondering about ...

SCOTUS has recently hinted that they agree with maintaining the independence of the Fed.

If that recent prior hint holds, then it may be interesting to see how they thread the needle in this case, while continuing with their prior agreement about the independence of the Fed.

Fed Independence Risk Troubles Kavanaugh in Trump Firing Fight
finance.yahoo.com

... A key US Supreme Court justice indicated he wants to protect the Federal Reserve's independence as the conservative majority weighed giving President Donald Trump power to fire members of the Federal Trade Commission and similar independent agencies.

During arguments on Monday, Justice Brett Kavanaugh raised questions about the Fed several times. He asked the administration's top lawyer, US Solicitor General John Sauer, to address opponents' arguments that adopting a broad interpretation of Trump's firing power in the FTC case ultimately would undermine the central bank's independence. ...

@#2

Wait, what?

Justice Kavanaugh is a "key" Justice?

You mean the conservative justices are trying to blow up the government but realize that destroying the independence of the fed would tank the economy, nay the global economy?

Are even Roberts and Alito and Thomas that stupid?

Probably

Yup.

Will be interesting to see how they walk that fine line.

I don't think we will find out anything to that point in this current case.

But when the Cook case comes up, that will be the important one, imo.

[I am not a lawyer, so what do I know?]

Court's Rwingers to decide in favor of people who bought them RVs, Vacation Cruises ... Uncle Clarence alone got over $4 million! Why, this is 'Murican as apple pie. And corn fritters.

"Uncle Clarence alone got over $4 million!"

I just want to ask him how he got from monthly payments for the RV to no payments, waaaaaaaay before it was paid off.

That's a fair question, wouldn't you say?

Anything that constrains Dear Leader is Unconstitutional, and Immoral as hell.

His freedom of action is of paramount importance.

That's my take on the current SCOTUS.

If the SCOTUS allows this, every incoming president of a different party will swap out entire agencies. Everybody will get whiplash! Businesses, especially, should be against this because they won't be able to adequately plan for the future. And, one of the first acts of a future incoming democratic administration would be to use its anti Trust powers to break up all of these companies that "kissed the ring" to get their mergers through.

"If the SCOTUS allows this, every incoming president of a different party will swap out entire agencies"

Permanent instability and dysfunction is a feature, not a bug, when you are trying to bring down a government.
