Texas Lawmakers Repeatedly Failed to Pass Legislation That Could Have Protected Residents from Deadly Floods

After last summer's disaster, some Texas legislators scolded local officials for their decision not to invest in flood warning sirens and for the chaotic emergency response. Other elected leaders excused the storm as so massive that no one could have prepared for it.

Like no one (except Tom Clancy) could see 911 coming?

This is BS. If you live in Texas, you learn the storms.

The second "mistake" was in not providing for that warning systems. Trump/MAGA/GOP is forever willing to trade lives for "savings". We have a massive rainy day fund that they refuse to even spend on rain.

But the FIRST mistake was allowing these camps to be built in those flood plains at all. There's nothing more Texan than a massive flash flood. EVERYONE knew that they would be washed away one day. EVERYONE, including those who made a profit from this game of Russian roulette every year.

It's going to happen again.

Trump/MAGA/GOP is the poster child for the banality of evil.

Where do the Nazis come from? We appear to raise them.

Politicians like those in Texas are purposely derelict in their duties to build infrastructure and disaster management. They blame "God's will" for the consequences of their dereliction while they enrich themselves.

The siren is too noisy.

They don't want it.

Just like wearing a mask during COVID, the inconvenience associated with saving innocent people's lives is just too much for Republicans to bear.

They'd rather be "independent" than beholden to DC.
In that case, they should independently accept responsibility for screwing up and allowing those kids to die.

But, since when do Republicans ever accept responsibility for any screw-ups?
They'll deflect by blaming Dems, their diety or "nobody could have seen that coming".

People who still cling to "9-11 was a mysterious cascade of failures" are shocked when Israel is implicated in JFK's assassination.

The world must seem like a blur of nonsense to them.

Would they ---- their wrists arguing why the DoD longer sharing data with NOAA is unreal conspiracy?

The rotting orange chomo deserves credit for gutting NOAA.
