Egyptian intelligence quietly changed the terms of a ceasefire proposal that Israel had already signed off on earlier this month, ultimately scuttling a deal that could have released Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners... according to three people familiar with the discussions.

Most likely, BS pushed by pro-Hamas CNN's embarrassed 'unnamed sources' and they are trying to shift the blame for Hamas pulling the last-minute "we accepted ceasefire" stunt.

There was no "blurring the lines between the original framework" and Hamas' "ceasefire agreement" - same Hamas' original demands, including "permanent" ceasefire, with most live hostages promised to be released at the end of last stage, which were clearly unacceptable and previously rejected. Israel already made all the concessions it could reasonably accept, and the terms were known to all the parties before Cairo meeting. Egypt is the most interested party in the ceasefire and they would not unilaterally change terms they knew would scuttle the deal. Hamas never had any intention to negotiate in good faith, and were/are helped by Biden's and State Dept, who have no weight with Hamas and keep negotiating with/against themselves.

FTA: |------- ... With Israel agreeing for the most part to go farther than they previously had, there was a creeping sense of optimism taking hold that a deal was close at hand. ...

US officials emphasized how "extraordinarily generous on the part of Israel" the framework was, in the words of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. ...

After the Egyptians came back from Israel and conferred with Hamas, it became clear the group wouldn't go along with what Israel was agreeing to...

Pretty much self-evident - it weren't Egyptians that "scuttled" the ceasefire deal.

Egyptians speak Arabic, they wouldn't make a mistake as to who means what by "ceasefire":

worldmeets.us - In Arabic, Hebrew and English, the Meaning of 'Ceasefire' Varies Widely | June 20, 2013

|------- "Notwithstanding the fact that the language of negotiation is English, each party to the process ... negotiates through its own cultural bias. ... The concepts and use of language in the Arab world is diametrically distinct, and even opposite, to that of the West."

... As an example of this phenomenon, let's take a look at the word "ceasefire"... Each party involved uses this word, but for each, it acquires different meanings and cultural connotations. ...

In English, as it is understood in the United States, the term "ceasefire" means a total cessation by one party of any activity that could be interpreted as aggressive by the other party. ...

In Arabic, the term used for "ceasefire" and "truce" is hudna , which means a temporary cessation of hostilities against the enemy until that enemy can be defeated in the future. ... In Arabic, there are three idiosyncratic peace agreements:

a) Hudna b) Atwah and c) Sulha . ...

There's a history of the same kind of crap that Arafat / PLO / PA used to pull every time with Israel and USA - they would publish the original agreements or say something "peaceful" in English, but it sounded much different in Arabic, for Arab-speaking audiences.
