It took less than a month for Donald Trump's new DOJ to be engulfed by a controversy that supercharges concerns the president's political aims are compromising the application of the law.

"The drama " which recalls the Saturday Night Massacre of Watergate fame " represents the most high-profile effort yet by Justice Department officials to push back against Trump's DOJ leadership, which is tasked with ending the "weaponization" of justice but which critics fear is perpetuating it.

Danielle Sassoon, who quit as the acting US attorney for the Southern District of New York, laid out stunning allegations of political interference in a letter to new Attorney General Pam Bondi.

And she said that the New York City mayor's attorneys had repeatedly urged a quid pro quo under which Adams would help Trump's hardline immigration policy if the case were dropped."

;)

Wow... so the secret quid pro quo (that was obvious to everyone but Trumpers when the Mayor's deal was announced) just went public as patriotic DOJ officials resign in protest.

Good times!

"Trump's A.G. Just Did Something So Corrupt She Should Be Fired Already

Note to right-wing "media" and all you fantasists who believe them: This is what judicial sleaze actually looks like."

Bondi should go bye-bye to prison.

"Justice Department in upheaval over order to dismiss NYC Mayor Adams' corruption case"

"Acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, Danielle Sassoon,
a Republican who clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, started the exodus.

Writing to Trump's new Attorney General Pam Bondi, Sassoon accused Mayor Adams and officials in the
DOJ of what amounted to a quid pro quo, that Adams would aid Trump's immigration enforcement
if the DOJ dropped his case.

Sassoon excoriated that alleged offer, writing -- quote --

"It is a breathtaking and dangerous precedent to reward Adams' opportunistic and shifting commitments on immigration and other policy matters with dismissal of a criminal indictment."

SO 'a Republican who clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, started the exodus.'.

Obviously this is a Weaponized Dem Crisis Actor pretending to be Ms. Sassoon.
