If you find yourself sneezing suddenly with watery eyes and a runny nose, then you probably know allergy season is upon us, but experts say that it's coming earlier in the year and lasting longer in Connecticut due to a milder winter season caused by climate change.

The National Allergy Map recently showed Hartford County listed in medium allergy conditions with a score of 5.5 based on a scale of 0-12. That number is selected based on pollen counts and the chances someone may develop symptoms. Much of the state is also listed in medium allergy conditions and those numbers are forecasted to rise.

Connecticut's allergy count is up significantly from a few weeks ago when it was below two and is expected to continue to rise with forecasts showing medium-high allergy conditions over the next few weeks. Other areas of the state like New Haven and Fairfield counties are expected to also push up into the high category this year. ...
