There are a lot of unstable people out there. Some of whom do own guns:
According to court documents, Gokey told the crisis line his motivation was conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a national figure and founder of Phoenix-based Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot while speaking at a university in Utah on Sept. 10. When officers went to Gokey's apartment near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road, they said he refused to come out and spoke through a locked security door. He referenced school shootings in Minneapolis and Tennessee and told officers that "radical left violence breeds a far right response," according to court documents. While in custody, Gokey also declared that "transgenderism should be eradicated from public society," police said. Court records describe Gokey as mentally disturbed. They note earlier police contacts, including a Sept. 2 incident when he attempted suicide by taking pills and a Sept. 7 call where he threatened to shoot bystanders if officers did not respond more quickly. Officers said he later told them, "It worked, didn't it."
