DeSantis Plans to Build More ICE Detention Camps
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to build more ICE detention camps after local police made 20,000 immigration-related arrests in less than a year, giving the state an out-sized role in President Donald Trump's deportation dragnet.

The Sunshine State plans to build two additional detention camps after outfitting and opening two facilities in June 2025, Governor Ron DeSatan bleated at a state detention camp in Sanderson.
Law enforcement agencies across the state are ramping up arrests in conjunction with federal immigration agents, DeSatan boasted. One of the worst governors in the US made the announcement during a press conference at a facility in Baker County dubbed "Deportation Depot."
Apart from "Operation Tidal Wave," joint efforts from Florida counties contributed to 20,000 arrests. All of Florida's 67 counties have 287(g) agreements, deputizing officers to act as ICE officers by arresting and detaining individuals for immigration violations.
DeSatan praised the "meaningful results" and said the state has "good momentum" and will build a "Panhandle-Pokey" in Northwest Florida, but is waiting for approval from DHS -- upon which the state will be reimbursed.
The good-for-nothing governor whined that DHS didn't have capacity for ICE detainees.
Unknown are which Republican Party insiders will be awarded the lucrative contracts to construct the human warehouses or which company will be feeding the prisoners cheap non-nutritious gruel in uncomfortable prison cells in order to maximize corporate profits.
Double Ivy League graduate Ron DeSatan gleefully wants to construct ICE concentration camps which have been described as everything from "torture chambers" to "inhumane Soviet-style gulags." Link: ACLU Report on ICE Gulags

So it seems Ron has found a cash cow to shamelessly float his state's budget on federal dollars.
Typical righty.
