"Under this settlement, the Sackler family will pay up to $6.5 billion over 15 years, and Purdue Pharma will contribute an additional $900 million upon court approval of its bankruptcy. Up to $250 million of the settlement will be directed towards opioid treatment, prevention, and recovery programs in New York.

As part of the settlement, the Sackler family is permanently banned from ever manufacturing, selling, or marketing opioids in the US and will no longer control Purdue."

NYS AG Letitia James: "This company that put profits over people for decades is now shut down forever."
