Globalization or no globalization, there is no isolationism.
In the history of the nation-state world, it is always globalists in nation A who obtain an unfair advantage in nation A while globalist partners in nation B also obtain an unfair advantage in their own nation B, and so-on.
The simple fact of the matter is that globalization is a jobs program for people, typically upper-crust, who like to travel (and otherwise the travel industrial complex). Globalization does provide poor people the opportunity to travel, albeit in a military uniform.
Long before a US leader abandons a foreign leader, he's already abandoned natives and lower-crust people in his home country.
Back to high school name-calling and consuming cheap foreign goods, until the next economic collapse or war anyway.
