The USDA is cutting $300m in funding from a program aimed at helping farmers buy and retain land. The Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access Program was especially targeted to address land access issues facing Black, immigrant, and Indigenous farmers, as well as veterans and other underrepresented groups. USDA determined that the program "involved discriminatory preferences based on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" (DEI) as well as "wasteful spending." |
