Great news. I live in VA and its a relief.

The new districts would have prevented half of the state that is rural from having any voice in elections.

The new governor is making new taxes on a lot of things.

Doesn't matter it was voted. The ballot wording was misleading so it should be set aside.

2020 felt too squishy holding elections so soon, after reading the proposed plans for large scale mail-in voting.

Some states started preparing in March, but many were still writing procedures toward the end of the summer and even into the fall, trying to avoid bottlenecks and have some degree of accuracy.

I don't believe it was a direct federal mandate. It was more that the CDC and COVID pushed states in that direction and states started scrambling to prepare.

Keep in mind, it's the larger scale that changes everything.

You can't simply take the same processes designed for smaller numbers and assume they will function the same way at larger numbers.

Bottlenecks and weaknesses that weren't obvious before, suddenly become very obvious.

Anyone in technical types of jobs eventually develops a kind of sixth sense, if they're any good, about where to start looking when something goes wrong.

It comes from experience, pattern recognition, years of troubleshooting and just basic knowledge.

If someone has never worked at that level in anything, it can be hard to understand what that feels like.

Actually, I was posting on here a month before the 2020 election as soon as I heard how voting was going to be done that we are looking at the potential for a disaster.

You are absolutely correct.

However, for 2020 you have to step back and look at the bigger picture.

Mail-in ballots being used on such a massive scale during COVID greatly amplified the potential for problems.

Some concerns were already known from states that had experience with large-scale mail-in voting, but now everything was compounded nationwide.

And there were also new procedures and processes being implemented in real time that had never been tested on this scale before.

All elections have irregularities.

Absentee ballots have always been controversial because of late arrivals and verification issues can create disputes. Historically, though, it usually was not enough to seriously question the outcome of the election.

2020 was very different to many people because the scale, circumstances and uncertainty were unlike anything seen before.

That is why many Trump voters questioned the results at the time even if they cannot prove Trump actually won or any fraud.

My opinion is this was exactly what led to the actual Jan 6 break-in.

We need public confidence in our elections.
