Voter approved redistricting? Nope Legislature mandated redistricting? Hell yes.
Drawing districts to protect black voters? Nope. Drawing districts to protect white voters? Hell yes.
It's the Republican way!

It was tossed twice... Like that's a fact. The Supreme Court of Virginia twice overruled the district court judge.
This is the THIRD case and they finally decided the other way.
Do you know how courts work?

Set up a referendum for voters in compliance with state law and it won't get overturned.

The problem is.
When republicans don't get their way they grab their guns and attack their state capital. They threaten the lives of politicians. They blow up buildings. They murder people.
When democrats don't get their way they make signs and march in protests and tell jokes.
Why should republicans care about what democrats want.
Democrats aren't gonna do anything about it.
Besides most democrats are black and brown people, who cares about them.

Bell,
Great news. I live in VA and its a relief.
The new districts would have prevented half of the state that is rural from having any voice in elections.
The new governor is making new taxes on a lot of things.
Doesn't matter it was voted. The ballot wording was misleading so it should be set aside.

That may be true, but its not what happened here.
Democrats in VA tried to rush through without following the procedures, this was a foregone conclusion as I posted the previous 3 threads. Besides its not as bad as CA prop 187, where the judge ruled against Democracy.

Sure when the method of getting the proposition on the ballot was illegal. Talk to me about CA prop187 lets see if you still feel the same.

So, the voters were overruled by the Virginia Supreme Court.
Are the appointments to the Virginia Supreme Court similar to the appointments to the US Supreme Court?
If so, then there should be no surprise that the Court overruled the want of the voters.

Laura,
What part of misleading do you not understand?
The question itself was written to sway the voter.
"do you want these new districts that are fairer?"
That's about what it was.

Gaslighter falls for the narrative the Democrats in VA wanted him to fall for.
The Democrats filed the motion and argued that the court could not rule on the case until after the vote happened. The court agreed with their claim.
Now we know why they waited, for knuckleheads like Gaslighter to claim the will of the voter was overruled...
Pretty sick propaganda you fell for Gaslighter, better luck next time..

Bill, let me explain something to you, you semi-sentient ---- wart
One party rule is not a thing you want.
One party rule is dictatorship which will eventually get into your bedroom and monitor the way you ---- your wife
One party rule will be war all the time cause war pays
One party rule is the gate to theocratic rule, which you may think you want, but it won't be the theocracy you think you want.
When 30% of the population rules over 60% with the majority having no say, bad things happen
But you are too stupid and immoral to understand

@#11 ... The new districts would have prevented half of the state that is rural from having any voice in elections. ...
So, doing exactly what the Southern states have been doing (or trying to do) with respect to Blacks for decades?
Now, suddenly, your alias has an issue with this practice?
U.S. Appeals Court Strikes Down North Carolina's Voter ID Law (2016) www.npr.org
...The appeals court noted that the North Carolina Legislature "requested data on the use, by race, of a number of voting practices" -- then, data in hand, "enacted legislation that restricted voting and registration in five different ways, all of which disproportionately affected African Americans." The changes to the voting process "target African Americans with almost surgical precision," the circuit court wrote, and "impose cures for problems that did not exist." The appeals court suggested that the motivation was fundamentally political -- a Republican legislature attempting to secure its power by blocking votes from a population likely to vote for Democrats....

Its strange but "rural" voices don't imply any race. But making district for particular "races" implies that that all have the same needs?
Are you implying that "Blacks" all have the same jobs? Same education? Same household income?
Why do other races not matter? There is a large asian community in southern states? large Indian community?
Why don't they also have racial representation? Whats your excuse?
In fact why does CA not have representation for all of the following peoples?
Armenian** Bengali Burmese Chinese Farsi** Hmong Indonesian Japanese Khmer Korean Lao Mongolian Nepali Punjabi Spanish Tagalog Thai Urdu Vietnamese
Or are you saying some races are above others?

btw...who's suggesting should have only one party?

As for me, I simply define fascism as being the permanent rule of the very few oligarch billionaires over the rest of us, using intimidation, violence, gaslighting propaganda, and utterly corrupt political systems bought off to elevate the rich to god status, where the rule of law no longer applies. We are now, in more and more parts of the US, a fascist state, and that is that. We are as the Russians were as their Soviet State fell to outside forces, the CIA etc, and to inner oligarch rule. I vote, living in a Blue State in a Blue City, as least for now, one's vote means something.

With Jesus as your witness, what do you think Trump meant, when he said this: WASHINGTON, July 27 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told Christians on Friday that if they vote for him this November, "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."

I can't believe the absurdity of people acting like they really believe Trump could or would change term limits or abolish a party. That's pretty nuts.
I didn't hear that comment from him but even if I had, I would have just considered it Political Speak. Exaggerated rally language.
