The United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revised its child fatality figure from the Gaza war sharply downward. The UN attributed its original, higher figures to the Hamas-controlled Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza, whose figures OCHA has cited continually for the past two months. The UN gave no source for the lower figures in its May 8 update, but the figures precisely match those in a May 2 report from a different Hamas-controlled organization, the Gaza Ministry of Health. read more

You do realize that no one is forcing Israel to drop bombs on civilians, right? #62 | Posted by truthhurts
And by the same token, Palestinians could stop using their own civilians as human shields. But they don't seem to want to do that for some reason. By a strange coincidence, Palestinians getting their civilians killed seems to work like a charm on riling up bleeding hearts and anti-Semites. Weird, that.
Yes, I know that the pro-Hamasers would very much like Israel to stand with its hands in its pockets while the Palestinians rape and murder Israeli civilian men, women, and children. Israel does not seem to be keen on that idea. Maybe if the Palestinians murder a few thousand more Jewish civilians in cold blood they can see if that brings the Israelis around.
Nonsense, fanboi. Just say the "kids" deserved it and be done with it. #66 | Posted by jpw
Civilians die in war. That's the way wars work. Sorry that fact troubles you.
The war that the Palestinians deliberately started, by intentionally targeting and slaughtering Israeli civilians. And now they cry, as is their wont. While the bleeding hearts complain that Israel won't give the Palestinians a breather for a few months to re-arm and repeat.
You're seriously f^%#ed in the head. Seek help, dude. #42 | Posted by jpw
Why, because I understand that civilian deaths are part and parcel of war?:
"Starting in the 1980s, it has often been claimed that 90 percent of the victims of modern wars are civilians [...]. These claims, though widely believed and correct regarding some wars, do not hold up as a generalization across every single war [...] On the average, half of the deaths caused by war happened to civilians, only some of whom were killed by famine associated with war... The civilian percentage share of war-related deaths remained at about 50% from century to century." en.wikipedia.org
Seems like a good reason for the Palestinians not to start wars. But what do I know?
[...]I mean, is there a line somewhere between 7K and 14K dead kids where suddenly everyone is like "whoa whoa whoa whoa there, let's think about this, shall we?" #39 | Posted by jpw
That first requires believing any of the numbers originating from Hamas's agencies. And that also depends upon how many of those "kids" are Hamas's child soldiers, unless you think that Hamas is abiding by child labor laws or something and would never "hire" a "kid" under 18 years of age for combat.
And to answer your question, "the position of the United States Department of Defense (as well as the United Kingdom and some scholars) [is] that attackers may discount or disregard collateral harm in determining proportionality." en.wikipedia.org So, I suppose anyone who doesn't adhere to that outlook would think that anything more than zero dead "kids" would be problematic.

Oh yeah, I should probably respond to that as well. Since you place great store by the fellow: "On February 15, 2024, Sky News reported that in Mr. Griffiths' view, "Hamas is not a terrorist group for us [...]." en.wikipedia.org
So difficult to conceive that this gentleman would repeat Hamas's lies verbatim.

Yeah, it's almost like you need reporters who don't sympathize with terrorists to call out the pro-Hamas media on repeating Hamas's lies.
If it makes you feel better, you can run an Internet search and find sources more to your liking in 3 seconds, as the mainstream press is finally covering the story now that the jihadist cat is out of the bag: "UN cuts estimates of women, children deaths in Gaza in half" www.usatoday.com
Unless USA Today is too edgy for you, I mean.
[...] Fun fact: The Gaza Ministry of Health gets its numbers ONLY from hospitals and the Red Crescent. Their reports only includes those casualties and put them in a spreadsheet. [...] #20 | Posted by Sycophant
Sure, if you want to believe "a different Hamas-controlled organization, the Gaza Ministry of Health," go right ahead. I won't argue with you.
Might as well go whole-hog with the rest of Hamas's claims while you're at it: "Hamas international spokesman Dr. Basem Naim claimed in an interview with Sky News that the group did not kill any civilians during its [October 7th] attack on Israel." checkyourfact.com It'll make for less cognitive dissonance.
