The incumbents in every single one of the 10 major countries that have been tracked by the ParlGov global research project and held national elections in 2024 were given a kicking by voters. This is the first time this has ever happened in almost 120 years of records. The cause? Inflation. read more
Just hours after Donald Trump's election win on Tuesday, Black people, including children, across the US reported receiving racist text messages telling them that they had been "selected" to pick cotton and needed to report to "the nearest plantation". While the texts, some of which were signed "a Trump supporter", varied in detail, they all conveyed the same essential message about being selected to pick cotton. read more
Interest in the "4B movement" spiked since Kamala Harris's defeat, with women sharing videos of themselves on social media pledging to commit to its four "no's" - no sex, no dating or marriage and no having children with men - for the next four years. read more
The introduction to Project 2025, written by the president of the D.C.-based Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, who has a PhD in American History, states: "Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. "Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered." read more
Under Florida law, if a voter has an out-of-state conviction, Florida will defer to that state's laws for how a felon can regain his or her voting rights. or Trump, that means he will benefit from a 2021 New York law that allows people with felony convictions to vote as long as they're not serving a term of incarceration at the time of the election. For other Floridians with felony convictions, the rules are not so simple. read more
The first day of the bombs keep dropping while Trump is President I just hope there's a live camera in Dearborn so he can see the faces of the stupid rodent people who thought that Trump would actually give a damn about them.

Sounds like Hamas is already begging for peace and Qatar is kicking Hamas out.
After Hamas rejection of hostage deal, US asked Qatar to expel the group www.reuters.com
Palestinians dismayed by Trump's win, their leaders urge peace www.reuters.com
Funny how having US leadership that doesn't depend on Islamic terrorist sympathizers to maintain power can achieve certain results.
Of course, what Trump giveth with one hand ... he'll be giving Putin carte blanche to run amok in Europe.
So I guess Europe will have to put on their big-boy pants and figure out if they want to handle Russia now or ten years from now when it is much stronger, since it looks like the GOP will be sabatoging US efforts on that front for the next twelve years (under Hair Furor and two-term President Vance).
>"No argument here. I don't look forward to Trump taking office, but Kamala's loss is not surprising based just on the inflation issue."
It surprised the ---- out of me.
I've always thought that Trump's position was based on the perception that he wasn't as bad as the alternative. It turns out he was actually popular with a large number of people.

People are angry. And even then it looks like 10 million fewer people voted than in 2020, even though our voting-age population increased (by about 5 million?) in that time. Trump will win in 2024 with about as many votes (maybe a few 100K fewer) as with which he lost in 2020, so not much changed for him.
All governing parties of major nations did badly this year. First time in history, pretty much. Dems actually did better than almost all of them, but still lost.

Except that's not at all what the average cost of a meal is there
Depends on where you are (COL) and where you go. I regularly pay $10+ for a fast food meal.
In any case, how is Trump going to fix it and why are you stupid enough to think Biden caused it?

Who says I think Trump is going to fix it or that Biden caused it? It's just that people blame those in charge when things are bad, or they think things are bad (see Mandate of Heaven; "Did Food Prices Spur the Arab Spring?" pbs.org ).
It's human nature and Dems sometimes benefit from it as well (Financial Crisis Gave Candidate Obama A Boost npr.org).
How, exactly, is having a Woman of Color on the Supreme Court incongruent with this goal? I think you need to check yourself.
