A 30-year-old man from New Jersey was injured by a bison while visiting Yellowstone National Park on Tuesday morning, according to park officials. "At approximately 9:45 a.m. in the Upper Geyser Basin at Old Faithful, a man was gored by a bison after a large group of visitors approached it too closely," Yellowstone National Park said in a press release. "The individual sustained minor injuries and was treated and transported by emergency medical personnel." This is the second time this year a park visitor was injured by a bison. Thomas Friedman, "This Israeli Government Is a Danger to Jews Everywhere" in the 6/10 NYT (www.nytimes.com):
Israelis, diaspora Jewry and friends of Israel everywhere need to understand that the way Israel is fighting the war in Gaza today is laying the groundwork for a fundamental recasting of how Israel and Jews will be seen the world over.
It won't be good. Police cars and private security at synagogues and Jewish institutions will increasingly become the norm; Israel, instead of being seen by Jews as a safe haven from antisemitism, will be seen as a new engine generating it; sane Israelis will line up to immigrate to Australia and America rather than beckon their fellow Jews to come Israel's way. That dystopian future is not here yet, but if you don't see its outlines gathering, you are deluding yourself.
Fortunately, more and more retired and reserve duty Israeli Air Force pilots, as well as retired Army and security officers, are seeing this gathering storm and declaring they will not be silent or complicit in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ugly, nihilistic policy in Gaza. They have begun to urge Jews in America and elsewhere to speak up " SOS: Save Our Ship " before the widening moral stain of Israel's military campaign in Gaza becomes irreversible.
Bull weighs about a ton, stands around 6-feet at the hump, displays astounding agility, and can maintain a speed of 35 mph a lot longer than any of us.
Those who knew the critters best - the First Peoples - did not customarily approach them in the bold, challenging manner of this Garden Stater. There's a terrific account of the last big buffalo hunt of the Standing Rock Lakotas in 1882, attended by numerous serious injuries, in James McLaughlin's My Friend the Indian, Chapter 7 (archive.org).
Everything else Trump touches turns into sheet; might as well destroy the Army while he's at it. No shortage of lickspittle enablers to help the orange waddler along.
