Had a quick chat family firefighter, who found the idea interesting. Would love to see a drone that could somehow be used to identify a weak spot in the fire and deal with it to change the overall threat. As for the machine in this story, reaction was interest but can it arrive at the scene and be, essentially, water (or whatever) on within 2-minutes? I think firefighters spend so much time creating teams and relying on the human factor and the inherent unpredictability associated with their work that individual, personal control is important - although there is openness to technological changes, I detected no interest in being involved in serving as a test subject.

Interesting. I will sound out my firefighter son about it and get his reading. The first task is to ensure responders' safety and this seems to work in that direction.
