-Why wouldn't other people?
I agree for the most part which is why this is only an issue with relatively uneducated and low skilled managers.
Think high school grad managing a shift at BK.

-This will destroy the software industry.
they are just raising the salary threshold. I would think most software guys are making more than that so they can remain exempt from this.

This is a good thing for people like a shift manager at fast food or some other retail place who works 50+ hours a week for a low salary. Those people are being exploited a little bit.

"In sales, non-competes are vital to ensure a person doesn't take all their customers with them"
That's actually non-solicitation. Those are still valid.

I see. This action by the legislature likely puts a new abortion law on the ballot for November, correct?

"rely on labor from the homeless for your business model to work"
You are so moronic that you believe homeless shelters everywhere in this country are for-profit corporations.
Are there some shysters and are there people who truly exploit such as the organization featured in this story? absolutely.
Take my advice.....stop judging your fellow man when they are rolling up their sleeves to help the unfortunate.
You don't know this but you could. You could get out of your hovel and find these places and see how they operate. they would gladly let you donate your time to help.
But you're not going to do this. Better to judge them from afar and pretend you know something/anything about them.
You're nothing but a fake poser....a fake internet liberal.

"Hahaha!"
How in the hell would you know otherwise?
BTW, you're the scrooge in this story. You're the ignorant shut-in who lacks empathy or concern.
You realize that, right?

-When you have to rely on labor from the homeless for your business model to work, you're not in the business of helping end homelessless.
That may very well be the case with this specific organization in Oregon.
But shelters everywhere do this. That IS what they rely on, among other forms of support.

-I think that's a ridiculous way to try to staff an actual business, and you do too.
It's a way homeless shelters and other ministries help people.
but you've never bothered to be an actual liberal who cares about other people.
you just pretend you're one on the internet.

-They're saying no, you can't do that.
I know, dumbdumb. I addressed that.....
"It's all the other ridiculous restrictions that are over the line, IMO."
I know you read everything I write over and over and savor it....why pretend you missed that part? We both know that's not true.
You're a moron of epic proportion, but you CAN read.

-Dems are willing to squander major electoral issues for the sake of actually helping people
And how would they not squander it? By letting the ban stay in effect in Arizona?
How does that help the democratic party?

-It's also bad that you think it might not be bad.
no it isn't.
You don't think it's bad to requiring someone to work in a kitchen for a meal they get or do the laundry for a bed you're sleeping in. Neither does anybody else. Stop lying and pretending you think it's bad.
It's how a lot of ministries work, moron.
You wouldn't know...you spend all your time criticizing people who actually roll up their sleeves and try to help.

-Maybe you'd like to choose sides?
I'll take the side where nobody gives Snoofythemooch anything.
sleep wherever the hell you want, mooch.
-If the Rescue Mission"the only option in town"can shelter just 138 people, how can the government criminalize all 1,200 people experiencing homelessness in the city?
They cannot. Even if this shelter had 1,200 beds.

"There was an article (that I can't locate right this moment) that listed all the things that Trump has demanded his GOP allies do in Congress that haven't been done without any direct repercussions befalling the members."
I've been slammed for suggesting that's really been the case for a while.
It's news that Trump has power to move congress at his whim. The MAGAs love it....hell, even some on the left love it because it's news and it's being used a fear factor to gin up votes when the time comes.
The fact that you can list plenty of examples that demonstrates the opposite........that's just not sexy.

I don't think requiring work in exchange for a bed is all that bad unless it's not a fair exchange. It's all the other ridiculous restrictions that are over the line, IMO.
But the troubling part of this is this.........why is this ministry the only option in this town?
If the city doesn't like it then do something about it instead of relying on this ministry to do it.

"The poor man has got something that infects his common and moral sense"
That's pretty deep but you do you, Zed.
I don't know if he has a true struggle with his common and moral sense.
He's a hateful troll obsessed with another poster here but that's just what it is....a troll begging for attention.
Pathetic is a better description, IMO. I suppose we can conclude he lacks any moral compass when he tried to out the identity of another poster for no other reason that he was getting is weak ass kicked all over this place.

"Jeff is a lying pos hypocrite that no one should listen to"
Let's parse this.......
pos....that's relative and everyone here knows you are a bigger pos anyway
hypocrite........probably the only accurate thing you posted
no one should listen to.......well, everyone DOES listen to him, including you. He earns his Taylor Swift popularity medal every day even if you disagree
lying.....what is he lying about?

"What would you prefer Snoofy? Everyone should be constantly in a hyper-partisan frenzy and never admit when someone they don't agree with most of the time does something right for once?"
Yes, that's precisely what he wants. A never ending hyper-partisan frenzy. That's actually a great way to describe what he wants.
And he's damn sure not alone. all hyper-partisans want this. They are sincerely disappointed in this. They want a boogieman, a devil, etc.
You will continue to see hyper-partisans expressing their "disheartened" attitudes or even an outright denial of what just happened.
There is evidence of that on this very thread.

Not much protesting.
Once, I was the victim of an injustice.
I didn't protest.
Instead I asked for a meeting with the president. Got one.
And got what I wanted.
Sort of realized at that point I could sell.

"I can confidently state that YOU have no concept of the impact of 15 trans women have on college sports."
What's the impact?
No matter how much you want to argue ... ... sooner or later you have to tell women athletes to STFU and allow these participants.
Good luck with that.
