The quick reaction force is necessary because Trump rightly suspects that National Guard officers and troops will not blindly obey illegal orders. The members of the QRF will be carefully vetted to confirm their MAGA bonafides.

One of the problems that Trump will face is the resistance will not be constrained to big cities. It will be everywhere all at once and will quickly overwhelm any QRF. Then he will have to call out the military, many members of which don't agree with what he is trying to do. It will be utter chaos with infighting amongst the troops. I suspect they are having difficulty hiring. The sign on bonuses will help recruitment considerably. It will be full employment for MAGAts. Any MAGAt that wants a job will have a job.

Trump can't turn the military on the American people because of law and their lack of will to do so. But he can unleash an army of MAGAt ICE agents on the American people. And, when the people revolt, he has an excuse to use the military.

Then the recent transferees will quit only to be replaced by even more attorneys from other divisions; and so on and so on. No country, single handedly, can stand against the economic might of the US. However, together, they have a chance. They need to band together and put their response to Trump tariffs on automatic and move on to other, more pressing issues i.e. codify into law that they will impose the exact same tariff rate that the US imposes. After that law has been put into place, break off any further negotiation with the US until a new POTUS is installed.

I am upset that people have lost their lives and property. However, I am not upset that Mother Nature is reclaiming property that should never have been built upon in the first place! The fact that Texas (and the US for that matter) are not willing to continually spend money to shore up properties built in flood plains and other disaster prone areas is a good thing and should be applauded.

That said, government should be obligated to inform developers of the risks of building in a particular area. And, developers should be obligated to inform buyers of those risks whenever a property is being sold. In fact, the risks should be codified in the deed or rental contracts.

Let's stop building in danger zones and expecting government bailouts when disaster strikes.
