People ask why, but for me the real question is who, as in who the hell is running this government if Trump is not. Aren't we in another Reagan time, when the President rambles on endlessly, but behind the scenes others are doing it all, including dropping off billions to foreign nations for no good reason at all.
Hope Melania is not doing what Nancy Reagan did.

I am old, same age as Trump, but unlike Trump I care about America and its future, both as a democracy, and as a home for the many who are at the bottom of the income pyramid.
I have given up that in the few years left to me I will see a government at the national level that is dedicated to reason and kindness and health for all. We are dominated by a Republican Party aching, just aching, to take from the poor to the give to the rich. When the core of today's Republican Party is full on racist misogynistic bullies, little will be done.

This country was founded by men, many of whom owned fellow humans as beasts of burden. Those rich men who founded this country saw women as incapable of doing much but cooking, clearing and bearing children. So sure, originalism is taking us back to barbaric times. The Republican Party is composed of, run by, mostly men who view the income inequality as being right and "godly".

National Health Care divides the trustworthy industrial countries from those countries, actually, that country, that cannot be trusted as they harm their own citizens. We are the only industrialized nation not to have some sort of national health care for all.

Trump is a perfect example of why the Civil Rights Act is still needed, he gins up racial hate to get votes and political power.

Supreme Court Fundamentalist fanatics will most likely give Trump the midterms by overturning most of the Civil Rights Act that remains.

Not in my name. Extra judicial killings of suspects is murder, whether it is done on the street in NYCity, or in the open ocean.

Again, if the feds want to make a strong point, the best way to do that is to hold large employers to the law, and fine or arrest those who break the law. America intentionally had a porous border after the Bracero Program was stopped in 1964, otherwise crops wouldn't have been picked.
Or, of course, farm employers could have paid more for legal immigrants and citizens to do the work, but those coming through that porous border didn't cause trouble, they didn't cause field strikes.

Grandiose narcissistic people like Trump can only relate to people who have a powerful need to subject their authenticity and to follow "dear leader" or in their minds...daddy. So Trump surrounds himself by strange people like Musk and Vance and Hegseth and Kennedy...
They are not about "we the people" they are about..."praise me daddy, hear me daddy, let me hurt those people for you daddy".

It has been the plan of the far right for a long, long time. They want to get rid of the FDR social safety net including Social Security, and to do that they need a time when America is broke and cannot pay the benefits. Capitalism is about the ruling class, always has been and will always be, as more and wealth gathers in fewer and fewer hands, for the rich to win votes they need America alienated and divided.
Cue Trump and his grandiosity.

Shutting down Congress is one thing, stopping a newly elected Representative is quite another. The first happens every few years, but the second, should never ever happen.

America would be far better off with Hegseth gone than with a tame media ignoring the graft and the grift.

Nixon and Kissinger did the exact same thing to get elected and then reelected. Nixon did what he could to provoke protesters, who were outraged at the conduct of the government in the Vietnam War. It took me a long time to understand imperialism, because it was up close in my face.

A national media champion, yes, with a qualifier...the internet is not national network media, and more and more of that national media is bought by the rich to suppress the voice of the poor. CBS, The Washington Post, other major newspapers...they are lost to the forces of corporate cutthroat capitalism which is a great friend of the Trump gang.

The thrill of the abuse, the power in the domination...he is not one to be trusted with any lives, certainly not the poor and the vulnerable in America.

Don't forget, Trump is fascist to his core, and that was said by his former Defense Sec. James Mattis, and his former Chief of Staff, Kelly. A fascist believes, not in a Constitutional Republic, not in democracy, but in one person rule, iron rule. Let us see if Trump lets a red state get away with rejecting his domination tactics.

I live in low income senior and disabled HUD financed housing, and I really do believe that the stats are truth telling. I went to a talk about senior housing in my city, and could have walked out after ten minutes, as we were told there are no options for senior assisted care that takes only Medicare. Not kidding.
We need national health care, and to deprive life saving care is murder...by the system.

Really nice to see that at least in some places in our country the DOJ is doing its job.

Of course Oregon is in the sights of the Trump gang. It went vote by mail and turned Blue, and even though it doesn't find itself in the middle of things when it comes to Presidential Elections, it still has two Senators, and so quite unpatriotically, the Trump conspiracy is all in on frightening the electorate when it comes to voting.
