That beloved stat of CEO to average worker earning? Relatively consistent through the 60s when it was the Silent Generation and tail end of the Greatest Generation running things. When things like pensions were the norm, loyalty was a two-way street and one salary could provide for a household.

But that ratio begins ticking up once the 30 and 40 something Boomers start moving into upper-level and executive management during the 70s and 80s. It only accelerates from there.

Your attempts to obfuscate the issue seem like an intentional ignorance.

There have always been some division between the "elites" and the rest of the population. Pinning it on that constantly is lazy.

The inflection point occurred when the social contract was deemed invalid in the pursuit of wealth and power. THAT is on the boomers who exhibited that trait among elites and normies alike. Everything after has built on that basic collapse of societal responsibility and decency.

And once the administration begins trying to force lower prices, MAGA will cheer it while intentionally ignoring the fact that it goes completely against the ethos they've claimed to live by their entire lives. Trump will try to force markets by government intervention more than any Dem in our lifetime, but they'll remain silent and intentionally oblivious to that fact.

Also, I washed dishes, lifted picture tubes 300 times a day, and paid for my own tech education.

As per usual, boomers think their relatively normal life experiences are special, as are they.

I've worked kitchens. Was a cashier at a gas station on weekends and nights as well as working in the campus bookstore to float my undergrad degree. Worked two summers at a golf course.

But here's the difference - when a boomer worked through a summer and (maybe) the school year, they made enough to actually pay for their education. In my day, that work minimized loans and provided money to live. Kids now? The same words (minimize loans and provide money to live) but as a mere shadow of the meaning.

When I graduated, getting a job wasn't a steep hill to climb and starting a career wasn't a distant dream. Now? Forget it.

Yes, I recognize Gen Xers and some Millenials have contributed to the steep decline of the middle class; however, they are a symptom of the decline begun and entrenched by boomers to recalibrate our economy to hunger games, zero sum mentality where the social contract is non-existent in the face of making every dollar one can by any means necessary.

Of course, that stupid pile of s*&^ believes the garbage he reads on social media.

I was watching/reading some of the reporting on the Manhattan Institute's Gen Z expose over the last few days and whoa. We're far more screwed than any of us older folks want to believe.

Every time I open a new browser tab I'm reminded just big a failure the media is and has been.

There's always some MSN headline about "Judge Delivers Legal Blow to Trump..." or "New Polling Data Big Problem for Trump..." or some other nonsense treating this like it's a boxing match during normal times.

Meanwhile, in reality, this administration has showed that they'll flagrantly disregard judicial rulings, even going so far as to attack judges and the judiciary for daring to be the co-equal branch they are, and don't give two s*&^s what polling says as they blatantly gut social programs and policies that hurt their base and the 90% the most while favoring extreme wealth inequality and the torrent of upward wealth movement.

Rather than presenting a balanced picture of the administration's efforts, the media have jumped on any opportunity to make ICE look incompetent or, better yet, malicious.

Because they are malicious. They're authoritarian pieces of s*&^ that have to be excused by dishonestly using an exception to avoid criticizing the norm.

The only thing laughable is this take.

Venezuela wouldn't last more than a few weeks in a conventional war against the US. China and Russia aren't going to directly intervene.

They'll just ensure the same thing that happened in Iraq happens again - the nonconventional war is protracted, bloody and expensive, thus bleeding the US dry of a generation of young men and money we don't have because we're too stupid to simply walk away.

What if it comes out that Trump really has dementia, and he is staying in office because he is so valuable to the far, far right...be is totally a tool of those at his elbow.

I've more or less assumed this to be the case for the last six months or so. I've assumed Russ Vought and Steven Miller are the primary pushers, but I think that's only because I know their names. There are likely far more disciplined members of the admin who are much much worse but smart enough to stay out of the spot light. (which was always the worry for someone taking over the Trump model of politics...)
