At this point, I am wondering...
Is this Greenland claim by Pres Trump merely a distraction away from his (and Sec Rubio's) end-goal of regime-change in Cuba?
Asked differently, Denmark and Greenland have been quite friendly allies towards the US in the past. So, why not just talk with them about a larger US military presence in Greenland, if that is Pres trump's goal?
Miller: Nobody's going to fight the United States militarily' over Greenland
thehill.com
... White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller doubled down on President Trump's renewed threats to make Greenland a U.S. territory, but he dismissed the prospect that a military confrontation would be necessary to achieve that goal.
In an interview on CNN's "The Lead," the top White House adviser reaffirmed the "formal position of the U.S. government" that "Greenland should be part of the United States" and brushed off questions about the potential for military actions against the semiautonomous Danish territory.
"The United States should have Greenland as part of the United States. There's no need to even think or talk about this in the context that you're asking, of a military operation," Miller told CNN's Jake Tapper, who asked repeatedly if Miller would rule out military action against Greenland.
"Nobody's going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland," Miller added. ...

Berlin blackout: How dangerous are leftwing extremists?
www.dw.com
... According to security authorities, the assault on a gas power station in southwest Berlin was carefully planned. On Saturday, January 3, 2026, attackers deliberately destroyed cables using incendiary devices.
The consequences were severe: cold apartments, dark streets, disrupted rail lines and widespread internet outages.
Of the 45,000 households initially affected, two-thirds were still without electricity on Monday. Because of the extensive damage, repairs are expected to continue until Thursday.
Responsibility for the attack on the fossilfuelpowered plant has been claimed by a leftwing extremist network known as the "Volcano Group." Police and the Berlin Senate deem the claim credible.
In a statement titled "Cutting Off the Rulers' Power," the group asserts that it "successfully sabotaged" the Lichterfelde gas plant.
In the letter, the group frames its motives in radical ecological terms, accusing society of exhausting and destroying the planet in its pursuit of energy.
They maintain that widespread blackouts were not the intended outcome; rather, their aim was to strike at the fossilfuel industry.
Experts, however, warn that the attack created a serious risk for uninvolved civilians -- including the possibility of fatalities in hospitals where medical equipment lost power. ...

And messing around with jerks
My car is parked outside
I'm afraid it doesn't work
I'm looking for a partner
Someone who gets things fixed
Ask yourself this question:
Do you want to be rich?

I've got the brains, you've got the looks
Let's make lots of money
You've got the brawn, I've got the brains
Let's make lots of money

Rubio Helped Oust Maduro. Running Venezuela May Prove Trickier.
www.nytimes.com
... It was a warm autumn afternoon in the Oval Office, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio was helping President Trump steer the administration's discussions about Venezuela to a concrete military phase.
The two men sat with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to consider how to go beyond conducting lethal boat strikes in waters near Venezuela to moving harder against Nicols Maduro, the country's leader.
Diplomacy was over, Mr. Trump said. In front of the other men, he called Richard Grenell, a special envoy who had been meeting throughout the year with Mr. Maduro. The president praised Mr. Grenell's efforts but said it was time for military action, according to an official with knowledge of the meeting.
That meeting on Oct. 2 was critical for Mr. Rubio in pushing the administration to reach his yearslong goal of ousting Mr. Maduro. ...
