It's been a while since I have posted tis data ...

Sometimes science can be painfully slow. Data comes in dribs and drabs, truth trickles, and veracity proves viscous. The world's longest-running lab experiment is an ongoing work in sheer scientific patience. It has been running continuously for nearly a century, under the close supervision of several custodians and many spectators -- and it's ever so slowly drip, drip, dripping away.

Bolshoi - A Way (1986)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
[Verse 1]
We're in love, let's be together
Happy times or heavy weather
Mother says, "Today's a special day"
So let's not fight, okay, yeah

[Verse 2]
When you were at school, you were a honey
The boys all loved you, you loved their money
The boys would stare, you'd cross your legs
And then you'd toss your hair

[Chorus]
Away
Yes, you get by
A way

[Verse 3]
Money's scarce but family honor
Brings it home, brings it home
And down the shop, the tongues, they snicker
TV dinners, beer and liquor, oh, yeah

[Verse 4]
Skeletons fall out of cupboards
Curtains drawn fall open to allow
The light shows up the dust
That plays around your face

[Chorus]
Away
Yes, you get by
A way

Away
Yes, you get by
A way

[Bridge]
Innocence and lies don't make a perfect match
Leave your door unlatched
I know a word can be untrue
And yet still move you

All the time they bring their friends 'round
Dress you up, show you up
And all the time they told you it was true
Well, I'll believe you now

But then, I just don't know
I think I have to reconsider, yeah
I know when she got married
She looked fine in white and lacy frills

Oh yeah, she had a baby
It was painful, it was worth it
And all the time they stuck the knife in
Pulled it up and twisted it around

Pitch Drop experiment
smp.uq.edu.au

... We're home to the famous Pitch Drop experiment, which holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running laboratory experiment.

The experiment demonstrates the fluidity and high viscosity of pitch, a derivative of tar that is the world's thickest known fluid and was once used for waterproofing boats.

Thomas Parnell, UQ's first Professor of Physics, created the experiment in 1927 to illustrate that everyday materials can exhibit quite surprising properties.

At room temperature pitch feels solid - even brittle - and can easily be shattered with a hammer. But, in fact, at room temperature the substance -- which is 100 billion times more viscous than water -- is actually fluid. ...

Springsteen tells ICE get the f--- out,' pleads for America's future at surprise N.J. performance
www.nj.com

... Nearing the end of his surprise performance in Red Bank Saturday night, Bruce Springsteen paused to address the crowd, hoping not to be "out of order" and disrupt the benefit concert's otherwise convivial atmosphere.

Springsteen began to explain the origin of his 1978 song "The Promised Land," noting "I wrote this song as an ode to American possibility, it was (about) both the beautiful but flawed country that we are, and to the country that we could be."

Springsteen, 76, then pivoted to condemnation, urging the audience inside the Count Basie Center for the Arts to stand against the Trump administration's deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in American cities, particularly in Minneapolis. ...

...
[Verse 1]
I see them marching off to war
They're looking so heroic
I'm told they won't be gone for long
But that's a lie and they know it

Ten thousand gone they won't return
Never to be seen again
Strategic games is all we learn in the end
But they say

[Chorus]
Don't you worry about the situation
A message from the telephone
They out there fighting for the state of the nation
I'm waiting a chance to come home
They always have to fight the alienation
And realize I'm fighting alone

Bruce Springsteen condemns Trump over ICE actions in Minneapolis during surprise concert
www.kare11.com

... Bruce Springsteen slammed President Donald Trump and the federal crackdown on immigrants during a surprise performance Saturday in his home state of New Jersey.

During his comments at the Light of Day Winterfest Concert, Springsteen dedicated a song to the memory of Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE officer in Minneapolis.

The legendary rocker called on federal agents to leave Minneapolis and for fans of his music to tell Trump the same.

Springsteen then dedicated his 1978 song "The Promised Land" to Good's memory, according to cellphone video from the performance shared by NJ.com and other outlets.

"Right now, we are living through incredibly critical times. The United States, the ideals and the values for which it stood for the past 250 years is being tested as it has never been in modern times. Those values and those ideals have never been as in danger as they are right now," Springsteen said.

"If you stand against heavily armed masked federal troops invading an American city using gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens.

If you believe you don't deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send a message to this president because the mayor of that city has said ICE should get the f--k out of Minneapolis.

And this song is for you and in the memory of a mother of three, an American citizen, Renee Good," he added. ...

People Just Discovering Last Land Denmark Sold to the US Was Epstein Island
www.newsweek.com

... As President Donald Trump continues to push to buy Greenland, some people are just finding out that the last major territory the United States bought from Denmark was in 1917 -- the Danish West Indies, now the U.S. Virgin Islands.

But a lot of social media users are jokingly pointing fingers at a much smaller, much more infamous island in the Virgin Islands that was part of the 1917 acquisition -- Little Saint James, more commonly known as Epstein Island.

Jeffrey Epstein's private Caribbean island was never sold to the United States -- but it is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands that was later purchased by Epstein himself. That has not stopped online jokes and shock from people making the connection for the first time. ...
