In a crowded sneaker market roiled by the stumbles of its longtime king, Manhattan Beach-based Skechers has been climbing its way up the ranks. While Nike, which has dominated the athletic footwear landscape for years, made headlines last month for its plummeting stock price and gloomy outlook, Skechers announced record sales in the first quarter of 2024 of $2.25 billion, a 12.5% increase over last year. Since 2019, it has increased its annual revenue by more than 50%. In June, Bank of America upgraded its rating on Skechers' stock to a strong buy, and this week Morgan Stanley followed suit " notable votes of confidence in the fundamentals of a company that has seen its stock price rise more than 20% over the last year. Disneyland and its employees said they had reached a tentative contract deal, averting what could have been the first major work stoppage at the Anaheim theme park in 40 years. Members of the Master Services Council " an alliance of unions representing custodians, ride operators, candy makers, merchandise clerks and other Disneyland employees " on Friday voted 99% in support of a walkout. On Wednesday, the unions' bargaining committee said it had reached an agreement with Walt Disney Co.

Fans have been left conflicted' and underwhelmed' at a new sport for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with the introduction of Breaking. It is the first dancesport discipline to appear in Summer Olympic history and will take place at the Place de la Concorde from August 9 to August 10. Breaking is a new Olympic sport for 2024. The competition has two gender-based medal events " one for 16 men and one for 16 women. Athletes are known as B-Boys' and B-Girls', who will compete against each other in solo battles. The breaker with the highest number of points and rounds scored by the judges over his or her opponent in a solo battle will advance to the next round. read more
