As much as I enjoy watching Bill Maher's show most of the time, someone really needs to call him out for pushing that lie back in 2016. I think it's okay to talk about it now, after a quarter century. Tyler Durden was an alter ego created by the unnamed protagonist, not too dissimilar to how Joker was created by Arthur Fleck as an extreme reaction to the world he lived in. Clearly, neither movie was advocating for indulging in this type of extremism, but they did acknowledge and look at how and why those who feel disaffected or abused by the system are enticed to go down that path.
